RACE RESULTS from Saturday, April 21

HOBBY STOCKS:
The 12-lap race of 11 cars was dominated by Mike Wolff (#11w-Madison) who lead the entire race and captured the checkered flag. He was often given some pressure by 2nd place finisher Alan Hultz (#51-Madison). Tom Creed (#17-Moberly) maintained a good 3rd place throughout. Wolfe, somewhat out-of-breath, accepted the trophy stating "it was hard work", and then gave thanks to his sponsors. Mark Forrester (#10-Columbia) traveled over the line in a respectable 4th place.

HORNETS:
A good field of 21 Hornets started this 12-lap feature. Kristi Chase (#33-Clark) looked to be the dominant leader for several laps until a wheel-bearing problem caused her to relinquish her top spot to her husband Rob Chase (#3-Clark). Rob continued on to become the winner of the 1st Hornet race of the season. On his tail were competitors Chad Hickam (#9H-Hallsville) and rookie Galen Hassler (#25-Columbia) who battled for 2nd and 3rd respectively. Gaining spots from mid-pack to finish 4th was last year's Season Champ Brooke Hassler (#21-Columbia).

DWARFS/MOD-LITES:
Nine cars competed in the 12-lap feature. Justin Buckholz (#69B-Pleasant Hill, IL) was the complete race leader/winner. Blake David (#11-Fulton) closed in and earned the 2nd place finish. Daryl Kabriel (#46-Silver Lake, KS) accepted 3rd place when hard-chargers Mark David (#76-Mexico) and Mike Raffurty (#641-Independence) connected on turn 4 of the last lap and took each other out of contention. Buckholz, 2nd place finisher at Callaway Raceway on Friday night, thanked his sponsors.

B-MODS:
Nineteen cars powered through the 15-lap event. Kirksville's Kelly Smith (#82) cruised into the lead and racked up the 1st place finish. Close bumper to bumper pursuits gave way for Kevin Embree (#61-Paris) and Tony Garner (#20-Macon) to cross the line in 2nd and 3rd. Bob Woodrow (#3-Perry) impressively passed contender Craig Spegal (#7s-New London) "just when it counts" to finish 4th and 5th respectively.

SPORTSMAN:
Twenty-two cars stormed off in this 12-lap competition with several rows of cars 3-abreast which eventually caused a stack-up in turn 3. After the restart Larry Krog (6K-Clarence) maintained the lead throughout a good part of the race with Jeff Creed (#01-Cairo) and Pete Agee (#14-Huntsville) battling close behind. Unfortunately on the white flag lap, big hits and spins off turn 1 took out the top 3 competitors. Rick Girard (#00-Columbia) then earned the checkered flag with Chad Walter (#23-Clarence) snagging 2nd place. Butch Bailey (#111-Novelty) made big moves from the rear and motored into the 3rd position. Charlie Rindom (#42-Moberly) and Tony Ratliff (#19T-Moberly) finished 4th and 5th.

A-MODS:
Twenty-three cars were 'en route to victory' in this 20-lap race and Vance Wilson (# 1V-Frankford) was hard to chase for 15 laps - until his car died. This left the door open for Mark Dotson (#85D-Cameron) who charged ahead and collected the win. Battling ensued for the next several positions. David Holder (#4G-Clarence) snared 2nd, Matt Dotson (#88D-Sturgeon) sported 3rd, and Brandon Lennox (#22c-New London) scored 4th.

This was a TREMENDOUS opening night of auto racing!!!! Come to 24 Raceway in Moberly and join us for "Dirt Track Racing at its Best"! Next week Saturday April 28 in Moberly, Missouri, and in the first of their four scheduled shows this season at 24 Raceway, the 360 cubic inch Sprint Cars of the Winged Outlaw Warriors will be pounding the dirt at 24 Raceway. Sitting out this coming Saturday night will be the A-Modified class, in order to make room in the evening's schedule for these W.O.W. Sprints and their 122 mph laps. AND joining them on the evening's event will be the re-scheduled 4-cylinder Hornet Special, running a 20-lap feature. Both of these will be sponsored by PepsiAmericas of Columbia. Join us to watch these two great feature races, along with the three other classes of B-Modifieds, Sportsman and Hobby Stock this coming Saturday night where "Dirt Track Racing at its Best" happens again at 24 Raceway, east of Moberly Missouri on U.S. Highway 24. Adult admission to the grandstand will be $15, kids are $5 for ages 6 to 12, and the stands will open at 4 p.m. Rates for the popular Family Pass are $35 for this and the next event, and that includes admission to the grandstands for 2 adults and 3 children, ages 6 to 12. Kids under 6 are always free. Racing starts at 7 p.m. with hot laps at 6:15 following a short drivers' meeting. The complete report by Pam Hassler, along with a repeated list of the results & promo will follow on Tuesday 4/24.

Again, no A-mods will be running. Any A-Modified driver, registered and paid at 24 Raceway and not traveling to one of the races taking place at some of the neighboring tracks, will be granted a free admission to the Grandstand with a catch. At the evening's intermission, those A-mod drivers present will be encouraged to be available for an autograph session on the front walkway. Names and car #'s will be announced for a bit of recognition, "up close and personal" for this class. If their A-mod racecar is towed to the track for display and photos, all the better. Fans are encouraged to bring their cameras for a pictures of the A-mods present and get items signed or autographs at the base of the stands on Saturday April 28 before the night's features.
