stuff'! A great crowd of fans cheered their favorite drivers from the Weekly
Racing Series. For the first time, 24 Raceway welcomed the Fastrak Late Model

the heats and features provided racing action that displayed the famous 'Dirt

RACE RESULTS:
4 cly. HORNETS:
Chad Hickam (#9H Hallsville) picked up his 3rd win of the season. The
competition started with Hickam who started on the front row and Rob Chase (#3
Clark) and Brooke Hassler (#21 Columbia) battling a close 3-wide race in the
turns for a couple of laps until Hickam extended and held the lead to the
checkered flag. Chase sailed into 2nd with Hassler following in 3rd. Kristi
Chase (#33 Clark)had a brief side-by-side race with husband Rob (#3), but
settled back into 4th. With laps winding down, Robert Winfry (#37 Moberly)
crossed the line in 5th. Hickam thought it was a great race and was amazed that
they were 'three wide and didn't touch'!
HOBBY STOCK:
It looked as though Clinton Dale (#11PW Jacksonville) had the 12 lap race
wrapped up. But with 3 laps to go, Dale had a rear-end slide coming out of turn
4 and Kevin Renzelmann (#41 Huntsville) made contact (read: t-boned Dale)
knocking them both out. On the restart, Alan Hultz (#51 Madison) inherited the
lead and drove the last laps into victory lane. Giving a close chase was 2nd
place finisher Tom Creed (#17 Moberly) as Tom Elsen (#11 Clarence) passed the
line in the 3rd spot. Starting from the last row was Casey Walter (#23c
Clarence) who charged into 4th place followed in 5th by Chase Breid (#12B
Madison). Hultz said he 'hated to win it like that' and the 'guys are hard
runners'. That's racing!
A-MODIFIEDS:
The fast-paced 20 lap race began with an exciting several-car charge with Matt
Dotson (#88D Sturgeon) making impressive moves in the lead for most of the laps.
He lost ground at the end of the race when Kevin Blackburn (#26K Fulton) powered
past and captured his 1st time in the Winner's Circle this season! Snagging the
2nd spot was Mike Hoover (#71 Mexico), who flew past many cars from a near the
rear start and after an arm injury in the LateModel race. Randy Mauzey (#99m
Madison) racked up his best finish of the season coming in 3rd. Still having a
good finish, Dotson crossed the line in 4th. Dave Holder (#4G Clarence) followed
in 5th. Previous 4-time winner Vance Wilson (#1V Frankford) landed 6th.
Blackburn thanked his mom, dad, and sponsors. His good run was a long time
coming as he stated he had 'not had a great beginning'.
MFA OIL / BREAK TIME SPORTSMAN:
Eighteen cars started this 12 lap race. After coming out 3-wide on turn 2 into
turn 3, Jeff Creed (#01 Cairo) proved to be hard to catch as he dominated the
race to the checkered flag. Larry Krog (#6k Clarence) felt secure in 2nd place
until Pete Agee (#14 Huntsville) zipped past him at the end and took it away.
Krog then had to settle for 3rd after a good run. Also challenging was 4th place
racer Ryan Petersheim (#6 Sturgeon) and Chad Walter (#23 Clarence) who snagged
5th. Creed stated that the 'track's slick' - those 'Late Models have big tires'.
He thanked his sponsors after saying he 'got a good (starting) spot'.
MOBERLY MOTORS B-MODIFIEDS:
Gary Wilson (#11 Holliday) had the lead and a great competition with longtime
champ Kelly Smith (#82 Kirksville) throughout the race. On the 'green, white,
checkered' restart, Smith slipped under Wilson and powered into the lead to
extend his winning ways leaving Wilson to settle for 2nd. Tony Garner (#20
Macon) managed to keep his 3rd place as David Kinder (#40 Moberly) finished 4th
after swapping places with Kevin Embree (#61 Paris) on the last lap to score the
5th spot. Smith
said he 'liked racing with Wilson. He's a good racer'. Fifteen laps of great
racing!
FASTRAK LATE MODELS:
A 4-wide salute to the crowd showed off the sleek lines of these fast cars. The
first lap of the 25 lap race provided the opportunity for Darin Walker (#24
Bowling Green) to slip out to an early lead which was maintained to the Winner's
Circle! Shawn Rayfield (#18R O'Fallon) snatched the 2nd place. Great driving by
John Seets (#49 Brighton, IL) landed him the 3rd position after starting near
the back and passing many cars. Landing 4th was Bert Cheatham (#75 St. Clair)
who did a great job battling through a group of competitiors. Darrel Moser Jr.
(#22 New Haven) was also in the mix to capture 5th. Walker said of his win that
'patience payed off'. He thanked the 24 Raceway for having them at the track and
thanked the fans for coming.
June 23: This coming Saturday night, following the running of the five regular
classes of A-Modifieds, Moberly Motors B-Modifieds, the MFA Oil / Breaktime

to 12. Kids under 6 are always free. The grandstands will open at 4 p.m. Hot
laps start at 6:15 following a short drivers' meeting. "Dirt Track Racing at its
Best" will take place again in Moberly, starting at 7pm at 24 Raceway, east of
Moberly, Missouri on U.S. Highway 24. Action photos from 24 Raceway can be seen
at www.24racewayinmoberly.com , if you simply click on the forum and chose the
heading. Join us next week for another super evening of auto racing at the
high-banked oval at 24 Raceway in Moberly!
