24 RACEWAY SEASON OPENER POSTPONED DUE TO WINTER'S GRIP BY MOTHER NATURE ONCE AGAIN AT 24 RACEWAY. MOBERLY, MO (April 11) - These last two weeks, Mother Nature was kind to the local racetracks across mid-Missouri, but like the other tracks in the mid-state area, 24 Raceway has cancelled the planned racing schedule for this weekend of April 12. It was to be the 2008 season opener, but now that's backed off a week to April 19th. The Late Models of the ULMA series will be joining the five classes of A-modified, B-modified, Sportsman, Hobby Stock & 4 Cylinder Hornets in kicking off the new season of earning points towards the various season class championships. The 2008 season membership registration forms can be mailed in to the P.O. Box 553 address in Moberly for helping out in speeding up the entry into the pit next weekend. Updated rules concerning all five classes are available on the web site of www.24racewayinmoberly.com under each class heading, and on the forum section of the site. UPCOMING EVENTS (revised): April 19 - Opening Night plus the ULMA Spring Challenge (LateModels) April 26 - Hornet Special (20 Lap event) May 3 - Car and Racecar Show & Shine; 10 AM (swap meet - craft show & rummage sale) The advice here is to still "Dress warm, as we're still in April". Adult ticket prices for the opening night with the ULMA Spring Challenge are going to stay the same as any regular night last season at $10, with children, ages 6 to 12, getting in for $5. Kids under 6 years old are admitted free of charge. This year's pit pass will also stay the same as last year's price at $25 per night. Should be a big crowd with the draw of the Late Models too on opening night. The 27 racing dates now kick off this next Saturday night of April 19th with "Dirt Track Racing at its Best" at the high banks of 24 Raceway, Moberly. Ron Lueck - 24 Raceway, Moberly, MO |
