ONE MORE TIME! 24 RACEWAY'S SEASON IS SET TO OPEN THIS
SATURDAY, THE 26TH, WITH THE ANNUAL HORNET SPECIAL.
by: Ron Lueck - 24 Raceway, Moberly, MOMOBERLY, MO (April 22) - A third
try for racing this Saturday the 26th of April, and the Hornet Special is
the event kickin' off the 2008 racing season at 24 Raceway. An A-Main
feature consisting of 20 laps for the qualifiers in the 4 cylinder Hornet
class was set to pay out $250 for first place, $150 for second and $125 for
third. But now, that pot has been sweetened a bit more. Orscheln Farm & Home
Retail Support Center is planning on hosting their annual employee's Night
at the Races, and some extra bucks have been added to the purse. Plans for
dispursal will be discussed in more detail at the drivers' meeting at 6 PM
this Saturday. And a B-Main will be held for 6 or more cars not making the
grid in the A.
Also up and racing this Saturday night are the A-modifieds, the Moberly
Motors B-modifieds, the MFA Oil/Breaktime Sportsman class, and the Hobby
Stocks. And once more, if you're planning on waiting to register the car and
the track membership on Saturday, the smart advice is to get there a bit
earlier than the normal time to take care of the paperwork.
Those 2008 season membership registration forms can still be mailed in to
the P.O. Box 553 address in Moberly. Besides being available at the track,
the updated rules concerning all five classes are available on the web site
of www.24racewayinmoberly.com under each class heading, and on the forum
section of the site.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
April 26 - Opening Night plus the Hornet Special (20 Lap event)
May 3 - Car and Racecar Show & Shine; 10 AM (swap meet - craft show &
rummage sale)
May 10 - MFA Oil / Breaktime Sportsman Special (25 Lap event)
The pricing on Adult tickets for Opening Night AND the Hornet Special, are
unchanged in the last two years and still $10 each, with children, ages 6 to
12, getting in for $5. Kids under 6 years old get in free. A family pass for
two adults and up to three kids, age 6 to 12, is the bargain at $25. This
year's pit pass will also stay the same as last year's price at $25 per
night. We're having a time getting started but the 26 racing dates now kick
off this next Saturday night of April 26th with "Dirt Track Racing at its
Best" at the high banks of 24 Raceway, Moberly.
