Big Summer Combo race on July 3rd's Special Thursday Race by: Ron Lueck - 24 Raceway, Moberly, MO MOBERLY, MO (June 30) - This week, there's not one, but three events scheduled at 24 Raceway, Moberly. Following the Big Summer Combo race on July 3rd's special Thursday race, will be the regular Saturday July 5 show. See the previous promos and flyer for the 4th Annual Oscar White Memorial "Firecracker Forty', along with the Midwest Latemodel Racing Association show, this coming Thursday evening, all of which is sponsored by Moberly's L & J Development. Special admission prices are in effect for this Thursday. In the event of rain on Thursday, a later race date for the Firecraker Forty will be announced. (But it's not going to rain much anymore - we've achieved our quota!!). Admission for this coming Thursday nite's special race is $18 to the grandstand for adults, with kids, ages 6 to 12, still only $5 to see the races and the fireworks show afterwards. Rates for the Family Pass are $40 for this one. The middle event is on for the morning of Saturday July 5th, and it's a Car Parts Swap Meet - Craft Show & Rummage Sale. These sales are set to be held the 1st Saturday of the Summer months beginning at 7AM, and that began in May. Food & Drinks are available for purchase. Booth rental for the automotive parts swap meet, craft show & rumamage sale will be $15 per space. To reserve a space, contact R. Wailes @ 660-676-8268. There's a lot of drive-by exposure to this sale along U.S. Highway "24", located by the main entrance to the track. "Dirt Track Racing at its Best" will return on once more on Saturday night, July 5th at 7pm with a driver's meeting at 6pm, and then followed by hot laps. The five regular classes of A-modifieds, the Moberly Motors B-modifieds, MFA Oil / Breaktime Sportsman class, Hobby Stocks and the 4 cylinder Hornets will all be in competition with their regular class racing. The fast action will take place again on these high banks, east of Moberly, Missouri on U.S. Highway 24. Adult ticket prices are only $10 for Saturday night, with children, ages 6 to 12, getting in for $5. Kids under 6 are always free. Rates for the popular Family Pass this Saturday are $25, which includes admission to the grandstands for 2 adults and 3 children, ages 6 to 12. The grandstands will one again open at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Pit passes are $25 apiece. Along with this week's events, the MFA / Break Time Sportsman class will have a mechanic's race following Saturday night's racing program. And like the two Mechanic's races before this, an added activity will take place during the race: on one of the laps, the mechanic will pit on the front stretch and a tire change will be mandatory. The regular drivers will now be taking their turn at being the tire changers on these Sportsman cars. More details to be discussed with the entrants following the driver's meeting at 6pm of this Saturday night, July 5th race.
