24 Raceway, Moberly MO July 5th swap meet/flea market &
Sportsman mechanic race
by: Ron Lueck - 24 RacewayMOBERLY, MO (July 3) - The Firecracker Forty
race, sponsored by L&J Development, that was scheduled for tonite, July 3,
at 24 Raceway, is postponed
until (probably) next week. Negotiations are in progress as to which nite
and just what will be taking place - possibly Tuesday (and this date could
include a big surprise), possibly on Friday, possibly Saturday or even
Sunday. I'll be back w/ that info as soon as possible.
The Automotive Parts Swap meet / flea market set for Saturday morning at the
race track and the Race events for this Sat, July 5, are still on as the
regular weekly racing program at 24 Raceway.
Along with this week's events, the MFA / Break Time Sportsman class will
have a mechanic's race following Saturday night's racing program. And like
the two Mechanic's races before this, an added activity will take place
during the race: on one of the laps, the mechanic will pit on the front
stretch and a tire change will be mandatory. The regular drivers will now be
taking their turn at being the tire changers on these Sportsman cars. More
details to be discussed with the entrants following the driver's meeting at
6pm of this Saturday night, July 5th race.
"Dirt Track Racing at its Best" will return on once more on Saturday night,
July 5th at 7pm with a driver's meeting at 6pm, and then followed by hot
laps. The five regular classes of A-Modifieds, the Moberly Motors B-modifieds,
MFA Oil / Breaktime Sportsman class, Hobby Stocks and the 4 cylinder Hornets
will all be in competition with their regular class racing. Adult ticket
prices are only $10 for Saturday night, with children, ages 6 to 12, getting
in for $5. Kids under 6 are always free. Rates for the popular Family Pass
this Saturday are $25, which includes admission to the grandstands for 2
adults and 3 children, ages 6 to 12. The grandstands will one again open at
4 p.m. on Saturday. Pit passes are $25 apiece.
