2008 SEASON POINTS FUND IN PROCESS OF DISTRIBUTION BY 24 RACEWAY
by: Ron Lueck

MOBERLY, MO (Nov 26) - The top finishers in the points standings for each of the five classes at the high-banked Moberly track will be receiving their share of the points fund in December, as long as that racer participated in 75 % of the 2008 season's schedule that took place. And as in past seasons, the Champions from the five classes will be getting jackets representing their 2008 Track Championship. A special "Thanks" goes out to Boubin Tire Company (American Racers) for their contributions to the fund and for those jackets. And "Thanks" also to the Maxey Racing Team, B-mod #92M, for contribution to the points fund. The 50/50 monies, usually used to help with banquet expenses, did help with the class trophies, with the balance also going into this fund. Those five winners are as follows:

24 Raceway 2008 Track Champions
David Holder, Clarence - A-modifieds
Gary Wilson, Holliday - Moberly Motors B-modifieds
Clinton Dale, Moberly - MFA Oil / Breaktime Sportsman
Tom Creed, Moberly - Hobby Stocks
Rob Chase, Clark - 4 Cylinder Hornets

2009 SCHEDULING TAKING PLACE WITH 24 RACEWAY

After going through a difficult 2008 racing season with those 9 rainouts, 24 Raceway is banking on both the weather and the economy to work out much better for this coming 2009 season. Early in August, some cost cutting decisions had to be made. The track took a break in the schedule around the time of the Missouri State Fair weeks, as advertising was cut and some positions were trimmed out. But the racetrack survived and "Dirt Track Racing at its Best" continued on through the remainder of the season. This coming season, that weekend of August 22 between the Fair's two races on both Thursday and Sunday nights will be scheduled in as an off night for the Moberly track's weekly racing series.

The 2009 schedule is in its planning stages, with negotiations underway for more exciting special events, along with continuation of the five classes. Once again, there's two practice weekends planned for the last weekend of March and the first weekend of April. And of course, these "test and tune" dates are subject to track conditions being race-ready. Three 360 Sprint Car races are being considered again around similar dates as this past year's. Late Model racing with the MLRA on July 3 is once again a confirmed date, along with the chance of another early season date with ULMA too, hopefully in April. Midgets' racing is a possibility for the early half of the schedule and in discussions, too. In 2008, the Midget racing group that was scheduled in June was forced to cancel when the companion date for the same weekend fell apart for them. Discussions are also underway with the USMTS circuit again for at least one of two possible dates.

Of course, most of these are not secured dates yet, but that's why it's called "planning". And closer on the horizon, another item in the planning stage is a mid-winter post-holiday party / racer and fan get-together in January, to be held in Moberly near the racetrack. Watch for more info as this becomes more definite with the particulars ironed out. All of this is just to let fans and racers in on what's been happening with 24 Raceway's operation since the end of the 2008 season.

"Dirt Track Racing at its Best" is the name of the game! Keeping it affordable as Saturday night entertainment in mid-Missouri is the challenge. Providing a variety of great racing options throughout the 2009 summer weekends at 24 Raceway is the goal !
