MOBERLY, MO (Feb 8, 2009) - The schedule has been finalized
for about a week for the 20th season of racing at this Moberly track, with a
last minute swap on the dates of the Sportsman and Hornet Specials. This
year has some additions for services available to racers at 24 Raceway: Fuel
sales have been arranged through Sunoco Race Fuels, offering both a 110
octane fuel, and for A-mods, Sprints & Latemodels, methanol product too. The
fuel is to be available Saturday afternoons before the hot laps start for
the evening's race program, at a location just outside the pit entrance.
And the tire rules have opened up a bit, allowing both the American Racers
and Hoosier brands to be used in competition. Both are the IMCA -approved
hard compound type. It is the intention for 24 Raceway to have the American
Racer tires, in both a tall and short size, available for purchase after
this coming weekend of February 14/15. Calls to the track phone number of
660-269-9300 will be monitored on the message machine for making
arrangements for pre-season purchase and pickup. Sales of Hoosier tires are
to be added to the availabilty at some later date.
The 20 year anniversay with the 2009 season at 24 Raceway starts off with
the big United States Modified Touring Series show set for April 11th. This
will actually be the 7th show of the busy USMTS schedule for the Mo-Kan
Regional standings, and the 9th show of their early season. After that, the
next weekend of April 18th is a Late Model show with the United Late Model
Association's (ULMA) Spring Challenge. And as announced on the schedule, the
last weekend of March and first weekend of April are slated as two-day
practice sessions, Noon to Dusk, weather permitting and with the track
surface in race-suitable condition.
Opening night is set for April 11th with season ticket prices for
non-special events set at $12 for adults, with 12 years old and under being
admitted free, when accompanied by an adult. A laminated and coded 2009
season pass for adults to the bleachers for all of the 26 racings dates is
available for a $225 fee. Just call the track office number listed above
with your request.
The Mid-Winter Get-Together, held on January 24th at Best Western/Moberly
Inn, was well-attended. The Class Winners' letterman style coats were given
out to the five respective winners and good times were had by all who came
out. 24 Raceway's race teams, owners and staff hope to see you again, at
Moberly on Saturday nights for this 20th anniversary year with Dirt Track
Racing at its Best!
