ONE MORE CHANCE AT PRACTICE THIS WED. AFTERNOON AT 24
RACEWAY BEFORE OPENING NIGHT. MOBERLY, Mo (April 7) - Since the practice sessions at 24 Raceway were rained out the first weekend, and then Sunday's was cut short due to weather, another afternoon session has been offered on Wednesday, the 8th of April. The track will be open for some practice laps from 2pm to dusk for qualified drivers of all classes with a $13 admission per person entering the pit area. As in past sessions, a signed release will be mandatory. Tire sales at 24 Raceway will also be available on Wednesday, and these are the IMCA approved hard compound tires, in both the tall & short sizes. Same availability for fuel sales. Both the Sunoco 110 octane racing fuel and a methanol blend are available at the track. The phone number at the track is 660-269-9300, for further questions on either. The 2009 Saturday night season opener on April 11 will mark the 20th season at 24 Raceway with the United States Modified Touring Series being the feature presentation. Hot laps will begin at 6:15pm following a short driver's meeting. The heat racing then starts at 7pm. In addition, the USRA Stock Cars have also been invited to run with the Sportsman class for points towards their own season championship with their United States Racing Association. The USRA Stock Cars will be held to their own rules, and respectively, cars competing in 24 Raceway's Sportsman class will be inspected according to the rules for that class while both will race for the regular weekly purse of $225 to win and $175 for runner-up. Track memberships are not required for participation on this Saturday's opening night in either of these two classes at 24 Raceway, BUT: both the A-modified and Sportsman cars in attendance will get 10 bonus points (show-up points) for having their completed memberships paid prior to this Saturday night's race time. Both classes of A-modifieds and Sportsman are non-points races this weekend towards the 2009 season championships at 24 Raceway. However, the other three classes of Hobby Stock, Moberly Motors B-modifieds and the 4 cylinder Hornets will be kicking off the 2009 season of earning points towards their own various class championships. Pit passes are $30 per person for opening night and pit gates will open at 4 pm. Updated rules concerning all five classes are available on the web site of www.24racewayinmoberly.com under each class heading, and are located on the forum section of the site. Also, for drivers, owners and a race fan's convenience, a text messaging service is being made available to cell phone numbers, entered on the appropriate 24 Raceway form with the phone owner's signature attached. The advice here for Saturday is to "Dress warm, as we're still in April". Adult ticket prices to the grandstands for the opening night with the USMTS Show are $20, with children 12 years of age and under admitted free of charge. Should be a good show and hopefully a large crowd with the draw of those fast modifieds on opening night. The 26 planned racing dates for 2009 will kick off this next Saturday night of April 11th with "Dirt Track Racing at its Best" at the high banks of 24 Raceway, Moberly.
