by: Ron Lueck - 24 Raceway, Moberly, MO

MOBERLY, MO (May 16) - Some tough weather on Friday has forced cancellation of the Saturday night racing at 24 Raceway.  Hope to see everyone at 24 Raceway's half mile track next week once again with the Winged Outlaw Warriors in their 360 cubic inch Sprints, for their 10th annual "Gary Scott Memorial" race.  Last year's W.O.W. winner at 24 Raceway, Jon Corbin, will return to defend his win, along with the others from last year's top six: Terry Hinck, Jonathan Cornell, Rusty Potter, Curtis Evans & Curtis Boyer, in some very fast and exciting Sprint car racing!  These are the guys who have hit those 122 mph speeds at this Moberly track.  The A-Modified class will be taking the night off for this week only, but the four regular classes of B-modifieds, Sportsman, Hobby Stock and Hornet classes will be competing in their weekly racing program.  Adult ticket prices for the upcoming W.O.W. race night are $17 with children, 12 and under, admitted free.  Gates open at 4pm.  Pit passes are $30 for this night.  Pre-tech inspections start at 4:30 and ends at the start of hot laps.

It will be a fast night of racing at 24 Raceway on May 23rd, with the first heats begining at 7pm this Saturday, and featuring the first of three scheduled Sprint car shows for 2009.  A short driver's meeting will take place at 6pm, followed by hot laps, starting at 6:15.  Please see the website of www.24racewayinmoberly.com for additional info.  The fast action will take place again on these high banks, east of Moberly, Missouri on U.S. Highway 24 this coming Saturday.  "Dirt Track Racing at its Best" is back with grandstands open at 4pm this Saturday, the 23rd of May at the high banks of 24 Raceway, Moberly.

As always this season, complete results from all of the classes are available at www.speednetdirect.com .  You can navigate to 24 Raceway's results listing by clicking on the "home" page, and following directions from there.  Other items of interest:  Action photos from 24 Raceway can be viewed at www.photogliff.com with ordering available off that website, for professional shots of both driver and racecar.   Fuel sales of both Sunoco's 110 octane gas & a methanol blend, and tire sales, both Hoosier and American Racer brands, take place in near the tech area prior to the night's hot laps.  Kids, ages 0 to 7 and 8 to 12, can enter a coloring of the night's picture at the Junior Fan Club table for a chance to win souvenior booth gift certificates.  And finally, to help celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the facility, a Miss 24 Raceway will be picked from this year's entrants to preside over the trophy presentations for the 2009 season.  Voting will still proceed this Saturday.  Fill it out and give to any official at the racetrack, as the Miss 24 Raceway will be announced later in the evening, May 23.
