PLENTY ON TAP FOR JUNE 27TH AT 24 RACEWAY FOLLOWING THE RAINOUT LAST WEEKEND.
by: Ron Lueck - 24 Raceway, Moberly, MO

MOBERLY, MO (June 23) - Once again there was a great track surface preped for race night at 24 Raceway on June 20th, but the rain took over at 3pm and forced events to be postponed to this Saturday June 27th. So in addition to the scheduled Hobby Stock Special in their 25 lap event, there will also be the Sportsman mechanics getting their chance at driving on the high banked track, following the other four classes of A-modifieds, B-modifieds, Sportsman and the 4 cylinder Hornet class again this Saturday.

And the Dukes of (Randolph) Hazzard County will be back once more with skits at race intermission. Twenty-seven members of the Prather family and friends will have plenty of reproduction cars and trucks on hand for both viewing and photo opportunities. There may just be some Smokie & the Bandit and Andy of Mayberry shenanigans, too. By visiting the website of www.24racewayinmoberly.com , there are instructions on a flyer on entering a Daisy Duke Look-a-like contest for gals who wish to try for a $500 Grand Prize and trip for 2 to Lake of the Ozark's Horny Toad Resort & Yacht Club! Both 2nd and 3rd prizes are cash awards too, along with gift certificates to Truman's Bar & Grill of Columbia, the Pear Tree Restaurant of Bevier and D.Rowe's Restaurant & Sports Bar in Columbia. "Scotty & Carissa in the Morning" from KCLR Clear 99 will be on hand with a live remote before the racing and will be organizing the judging. Look for the flyers featuring the dozens of sponsors from area businesses for this for this rather big event.

All the intermission fun with Scotty & Carissa hosting, will take place along with the fast racing action on the high banks of 24 Raceway, three miles east of Moberly, Missouri on U.S. Highway 24 this coming Saturday, now on June 27th. The adult ticket prices are still ONLY $10 for this night of fun. Children, ages 12 and under, are admitted free. Pit gates will be open at 4pm. Pit passes are $25. "Dirt Track Racing at its Best" is back with grandstands open at 4pm this Saturday at 24 Raceway, Moberly. Listen for the remote broadcast from Clear 99 this Saturday afternoon. And ads will also run on KZZT and KRES radio, too, both out of Moberly, MO. The Daisy Duke Look-a-like event, in conjunction with the Duke-fest show at intermission, was to be for the Dad's Day event. Crowd participation is going to play a role in determining the winners. Some lucky gals will be leaving with those big prizes mentioned earlier! See the flyer on the website's home page.

UPCOMING EVENTS:
June 27 - Hobby Stock Special (25 Lap event) + Sportsman mechanic's race following the 5 class features
along with the postponed Father's Day show Dukes of (Randolph) Hazzard Co + Smokie & Bandit's + Andy of Mayberry's replicas in a skits at intermission

Each race night, kids, ages 0 to 7 and 8 to 12, can enter a coloring of the night's picture at the Junior Fan Club table for a chance to win prizes or souvenior booth gift certificates, or maybe even a bicycle donated by a race team. "Dirt Track Racing at its Best" begins at 7pm, with a short driver's meeting at 6pm, followed by hot laps, starting at 6:15. If you're looking for some old video from the early seasons at this Moberly racetrack, take a look at the website and go to the Forum section in the A-modifieds class. You'll see what the track and racing looked like in 1990.
