24 RACEWAY RAIN-OUT THIS SATURDAY;  UP NEXT IS 8TH ANNUAL B-MOD SHOOTOUT AT 24 RACEWAY
by  Ron Lueck - 24 Raceway

MOBERLY, MO (Sept. 5) - Just two isolated heavy rain cells in the northern MO area, one over Moberly and the other over the racetrack just 3 miles east of town, was all it took to wash out the SpeedBowl 2009 for this Saturday at 24 Raceway.  By 9am on this Labor Day Saturday, rainwater was standing in the south part of the pit area, and not expected to be dry enough to be usable by evening.  Watch this site for any re-scheduling and re-formatting of this special event on the website of www.24racewayinmoberly.com.

PROMO:  The next big event coming up at 24 Raceway on Septemper 12th will be 7th annual B-Modified Championship Shootout, sponsored by MHC Kenworth of Columbia, MO.  Also noted as the Bob Hubert Memorial race, this event features a custom format for the B-modified racers that Bob, Mr. Mopar, loved so much.  A 30 lap format will be the feature race of the evening, and will take place in two segments:  After the initial 20 laps, the top ten cars will get a 10 minute pit stop on the front stretch for refueling and any necessary adjustments.  Then there will be a redraw for places 1 thru 10 to fight it out in a ten-lap shootout style to the finish.  The winner will take that $1000 top prize!  Entry fee will be $60 for track members and will include a driver's pit pass.  Non-members entry will cost $70 with that one pass included.

Since $ Hot Dog Night was originally scheduled for Sept. 5th, this will now be the concession special for this Sept. 12th event;   Hot Dogs will be only a $1 item!

A-mod, Sportsman, Hobby Stock and the 4 cylinder Hornet classes will also be competing on this coming evening.  Come early and view the new Kenworth trucks presented by MHC Kenworth at the racetrack.  One will be a medium duty T300, that's been a good seller for them.  And word is it's available in a hybred.  Most popular applications are:  Pickup and delivery, Fuel oil, Propane, Mixer, Dump, Refuse, Wrecker, Expedited freight, Fire and rescue, Refrigerated food products.  An over the road T660 tractor may also be brought in.  The MHC Kenworth staff will be on hand early, to field any questions on these and other models.

Admission to the grandstand area will only be $12.  "Dirt Track Racing at its Best" happens again on September 12th at 24 Raceway, east of Moberly, Missouri on U.S. Highway 24.  Kids 12 and under are free to the grandstands and the stands will open at 4 pm.  Pit passes will be $25.  Racing starts at 7 p.m. with hot laps scheduled for 6:15, following the mandatory drivers' meeting at 6pm.
