Championship up next at 34 Raceway

WEST BURLINGTON (June 12, 2006) - Poor weather forced cancellation of races at 34 Raceway on Saturday, June 10. The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders were to make the second appearance at the track this year but Mother Nature thought otherwise. The Sprints are scheduled to return on Monday, July 3 just in time for the 4th of July holiday.

Midway through the season the points battle continues to heat up.

Tom Darbyshire, Morning Sun currently leads the IMCA points race with 163 points. Gary Russell, Biggsville, Il . and Jay Johnson, West Burlington, are tied for second with 152. Darbyshire also is the current IMCA National Points leader with 488 followed by Kevin Blum with 485 and another 34 Raceway regular Rob Toland with 449.

In the IMCA Modified division Bill Roberts, Jr., Burlington leads the points with 193 followed by Dennis LaVeine, Burlington, with 180 and Andy Krieger, Burlington, with 162. Four points separates the leaders in the B-Mod Division with Burlington¹s Jerry Bliesener with 182 followed by Kevin Hetrick of Gladstone, Ill. With 178. Mitch Higdon of Wever rounds out the top three with 158.

The new IMCA Stock Car class this years is also seeing a tight race with a five point difference separating the leaders. John Oliver, Jr., Danville leads the field with 193 followed by Rod Staats, Columbus Junction, with 188 and Jeff Mueller, New London with 187. Not only is he leading the IMCA Stock Car division but Danville¹s John Oliver, Jr., also leads the point race in the hobby stock division. Oliver leads Todd Holsteen of Burlington 196 to 193. Dan Wenig of Middletown follows with 180.

Coming up this Saturday, June 17 will be Catfish Bend Casino Mid-Season Championship night with point races in all five classes.
