Late Model Nationals to pay $10,000 to win 100 lap feature

WEST BURLINGTON, IA (Sept. 12, 2006) - 34 Raceway, located 4 miles west of West Burlington, Iowa on Hwy 34 will cap off its 2006 season with the 15th annual Pepsi USA Late Model Nationals this weekend. The two day show held Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15 and 16 will feature $10,000 to win the 100 lap IMCA Late Model feature as well as Hobby Stocks and IMCA Stock Cars.
This will be the final stop for the IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series presented by Ideal Ready Mix and J & J Steel for 2006 and its season championship. It will also be the 300th Deery Brothers Summer Series race. The two day show will begin Friday, September 15 with time trials and qualifying races for the late models plus the hobby stocks will take to the track for $500 to win.
Also scheduled for Friday will be the running of the J and J Steel Iron Man Challenge race for late models. This is a 20 lap $750 to win race for all 14 drivers that have attended all of the series races this year. Saturdays action will include more qualifying for the late models plus IMCA stock cars as they race for $500 to win.
The evening will cap off with the 100 lap late model feature as they race for $10,000.
In the previous fourteen years of the Nationals the winners form an elite group including Steve Kosiski, Ray Guss Jr., Gary Webb, Joe Kosiski, Brian Birkhofer, Jay Johnson, Jeff Aikey, Mark Burgtorf, Darren Miller, Curt Martin, Dennis Erb, Jr., Rob Toland and last yearıs winner, Terry Neal. Neal got the win following a disqualification of the top two finishers of Brian Harris and Boone McLaughlin following engine checks.
There has only be one driver to win more than one year, that being Jeff Aikey winning in both 1998 and 1999. The USA Late Model Nationals was started back in 1992 by then track owner, Ron Pallister.
After the track was sold to current owner, Johnny Johnson, the event has continued to be a big attraction to the area for both fans and racers.
Pit gates will open at 4:00 both nights with grandstand gates opening at 5:00. Hot laps are at 6:30 and racing begins at 7:00. Current IMCA Deery Brothers Top 20
