410 Outlaw sprint show returns to 34 Raceway ; Jackson gets
the win
By Dana Royer/34 Raceway
BURLINGTON, IA (9/2/07) - When the original 410 Outlaw Sprint show was rained
out in July of this year Jeff and Amy Laue wanted to still try to get a 410
sprint show it. It had been several years since the 410šs had been to 34
Raceway. A large crowed turned out for the Labor Day Weekend extravaganza with
$2500 going to the winner of the sprint feature and $300 to the supporting class
of the 4 cylinders. When the action was completed it was Skip Jackson taking the
checkered flag in the twenty five lap sprint feature and Wayne Noble, Wapello
getting the win in the 4 cylinder feature.
At 70 years old, Wapellošs Wayne Noble sat along side Wapellošs 15 year old,
Bryar Keltner in the 24 car 20 lap feature. Noble took the early lead and held
on for the remaining nineteen laps to take the checkered flag in a race that saw
one yellow and one red flag for a flip in turn two.
Following driver introductions the sprint car feature was set to go. The crowd
was in full voice as they cheered the drivers around turn four for the start of
the 25 lap race. Knoxville regular, Billy Alley took the early lead from his
front row start and led the field for the first eighteen laps before getting
held up behind a lapped car. Jackson took advantage and got passed Alley for the
lead on lap twenty. With Jackson, now out in front, he would begin to pull away
from the field and take the checkered flag. Wayne Johnson finished second and
Bobby Mincer of Burlington took third to take the highest 360 sprint finish
honors that earned him an added bonus. Alley, Jackson and Wayne Johnson compete
against each other on a regular basis at Knoxville Raceway. All three thought 34
Raceway was a great race track and facility and hoped they would be able to come
back.
