Racers honored at 34 Raceway 2007 Season Awards banquet

BURLINGTON, IA (Jan 14) - The 2007 racing season at 34 Raceway was
officially ended Saturday night at the trackıs awards banquet. Nearly 400
were in attendance to see the top ten points finishers in each of the 5
classes recognized with awards and point money totalling over $10,000. Each
driver received a special engraved stone, video and point money. The evening
included a social hour, meal, awards and entertainment provided by DJ-
Austin Bowling.
Track owner, Amy Laue spoke of the success the track had in her and husband
Jeffıs first year as new owners as well as a few of the special events
planned for the upcoming 2008 season. ³34 Raceway boasts the largest payout
of any track in the tri-state area paying out over $400,000 in purse monies
even though two events were lost due to weather conditions and 34 Raceway
averaged 110 cars a night in their first season², said Laue .A special video
presentation was presented as well as special guest , Tony Anderson of
³Dirt, Dust & Speed² as he spoke of the video his company is preparing.
Anderson, Along with Tracy Anderson, have been following local racers at 34
Raceway and other nearby tracks for a special documentary on dirt track
racing. More information on the production can be seen at

Also receiving awards and special thanks were Burlington Pepsi, Fleck Sales
and Johnny Johnson.
In the first season for the Laues the track saw high car counts for their
point races including a total of 78 registered hobby stocks, with the
highest one night total of 37. The IMCA Stock Cars also came out strong with
60 registered drivers and a 29 car field high on one night. The IMCA
Modifieds had 42 registered cars and a 25 high car count night; Late Models
had 58 registered drivers and a one night high of 27 while the 305 sprints,
in their first year at 34 Raceway, had 30 registered with a 16 car high.
Fans can look for an increase in sprint car count in the 2008 season. 34
Raceway will kick off the 2008 season with its annual car show at Westland
Mall in West Burlington, Iowa March 29 and 30.
A racers swap meet and practice day is scheduled for Saturday, April 5 and
the first race will be The IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series for Late Models
Saturday, April 12. Also competing that night will be the 1st of five 4
cylinder series races.
