34 Racewayıs 2008 season will see many fan pleasing specials along with its Saturday night action BURLINGTON, IA (April 7) - 34 Raceway owners, Jeff and Amy Laue, coming off their first year of ownership in 2007, are excited about the upcoming 2008 season that will see many ³Special Events² along with its regular Saturday night points program. The car count for the 2007 season averaged 110 cars a night for the five classes of racing. This year those same classes of cars will return each Saturday night. Racing each Saturday night will be the J & J Steel Ideal Ready Mix IMCA Late Models, Sebastian Sandblasting 305 Sprint Cars, Miller Lite IMCA Modifieds, Mikeıs Auto Parts IMCA Stock Cars and Pepsi Hobby Stocks. Making appearances throughout the 2008 season will also be the Ideal Ready Mix-Louisa Communications-I-Wireless 4 Cylinders, Mod Lites, IL 3/4 Midgets, 360 Sprint Invaders, and the Bumper to Bumper IRA 410 Outlaw Sprints. On Sunday, July 27 trucks and tractors will take to the track as Randallıs Performance & Accessory presents The Des Moines County Fair Truck and Tractor pull. The 2008 season officially kicks off Saturday, April 12 with the J & J Steel, Ideal Ready Mix IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series for Late Models as they make their 39th appearance at the 3/8 mile track. Joining the late models will be the Pepsi Hobby Stocks and the Ideal Ready Mix, Louisa Communications and I-Wireless 4 cylinders in the first of a 5 week Dash for Cash Series . The point fund series will reward the top ten at the end of the year. Check the 34 Raceway website under ³rules² for purse and point fund. The Finish Line Restaurant & Pams Cakes (New London) will hold their 1st annual Parking Lot Race Car Show from 10:00 a.m 2:00 p.m. in their parking lot in New London with many prize give aways. This will be a chance to visit with your favorite race car drivers before they hit the track this season. All racers and race fans are welcome. A number of special events are planned throughout the year beginning with the Deery Brothers Summer Series on April 12. The following week, Aug. 19, the Sprint Invaders will make the first of four appearances. They return to 34 Raceway on May 25, Aug. 16 and the season championship for the Invaders on Sept. 27. Fans wonıt want to miss ³Night of the Twins² on Sat., Aug. 16. A new event, designed specifically for Sprint Invaders fans and drivers, will be held at 34 Raceway following the Knoxville Nationals. This will be an incredible event for all fans, featuring many of your favorite local drivers competing for an $8000 total purse! Double Sprint Invaders features will be ran, with the first feature lined up according to heat race finishes and the second feature lined up by reversing the finishing order of the first feature event. Full feature points will be paid for each twin event. All drivers points acquired in the two events will go towards their
Season Championship event to be held at 34 Raceway on Saturday, September
27. A cash bonus of $500 will be paid to the driver who accumulates the most
points throughout the two twins. An additional cash BONUS of $1000 will be
paid to the driver who wins BOTH twins! |
