John Schulz Awarded Sprint Invaders Win at
by Dana Royer

34 Raceway

BURLINGTON, IA (May 25, 2008) Josh Higday made the long trip from Knoxville to 34 Raceway Sunday evening and it looked at first that the trip was well worth it. Higday took the checkered flag for the 25 lap Sprint Invader 20 car main event but after post race inspection by the Sprint Invaders tech crew, the win was taken away. West Burlingtonšs John Schulz, who finished second was then given the $1200 to win prize.
Higday and Schulz set the pace from their front row spots on an extremely fast track with Higday taking the early lead. Followed by Schulz they began to run in to lapped cars by lap seven, that continued until the second of two red flags came out on lap fourteen. The red flag was brought out by Rager Phillips who was running fourth when he flipped over turn one several times.

When racing resumed Higday continued to lead with Schulz, Ryan Jamison and Russ Hall following. Again the leaders ran into lapped traffic on lap 20.
Schulz would take advantage as he closed the gap, but Higday was not to be denied taking the checkered flag. Schulz finished second followed by Ryan Jamison and Russ Hall. Following the disqualification, Schulz was then given the win.

Russ Hall finished third, up from a tenth starting spot. Bobby Mincer earned hard-charger honors by moving forward eight spots to fourth, and Matt Harms ran a solid fifth.

In other action Sunday evening the second of five Ideal Ready Mix, Louisa Communications, I-Wireless 4 cylinder dash for cash series. Twenty seven cars were hand to compete in the 4 cylinder feature race. Tyler Whalen, Riverside, Ia., took the early lead in the twelve car feature that saw one yellow flag brought out. Whalen lead for the first two laps before Tyler Schulte of Montrose took the second lead of the race. Schulte, coming off a win on April 29, went on to take the checkered flag followed by Whalen, Bill Whalen, Jr,, Brent Hartley and Jim Garret rounding out the top five.
