WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (March 19, 2012) - The 2012
racing season is nearing and 34 Raceway will kick the season off
with the Whitey’s Westland Mall Car Show and Comedy Kick Off Party
on Saturday, March 24.
The annual car show will be held during regular
Westland Mall hours throughout the day on Saturday. Drivers will
push their cars in starting at 9 p.m. Friday night and cars will be
pushed out on Saturday at 6 p.m. Fans will get a early peak at some
of the cars that will be hitting the track in the 2012 season.
Track owners Jeff and Amy Laue, Scott and Laurie
Parish and Tom and Sue Bowling then invite all race fans to their
Comedy Kick Off Party and Car Show Awards at Whitey’s Bar and
Billiards in Burlington starting at 7 p.m.
The comedy show of Marc Ryan, the “Infamous
Steve,” host of Mudslingers on the Outdoor Network follows the
presentation of car show awards. The comedy show will be held in
Whitey’s back room and there is a $10 cover.
What is now the first of three test and tune
sessions will be held this Sunday, March 25. Pit gates open at 11
a.m. and practice runs from noon-3 p.m. There will be no ambulance
crew on staff Sunday so by insurance regulations, only two cars will
be allowed on the track at the same time.
Pit passes are $15. There is no charge for
grandstand admission but concessions will be available only in the
pits.
Saturday, March 31 with the second test and tune
session, also from noon-3 p.m. Pit gates open at 11 am. A pit pass
will be required but admission to the grandstand area is free. The
third test and tune will be Tuesday, April 3 from 6-9 p.m. Gates
open at 5 p.m.
The first race of the season will be the popular
Slocum 50 Deery Brothers Summer Series event for IMCA Late Models as
well as the W.T. Gableine and Sons Trucking 305 Sprints,
I-Wireless/Louisa Communications 4-Cylinders and Holmes Concrete Mod
Lites.
