Six different winners cruise into victory lane at I-35 Speedway!

WINSTON, MO (May 26, 2012) – Thats right I said six. The Midwest Lightning Sprints joined the action tonight for AIS night at I-35 Speedway. Six new drivers tasted victory lane tonight as 92 cars packed the pits. The final checkered flag fell at 10:36p.m. 

Tonight was a little different as we started out with the IMCA Stock Cars. Thomas Roberts (Kidder) became the first driver to win in two classes this season as he picked up his first win in the Stock Cars. Roberts had a great battle to the end with Bruce Fair and Dean Wray. Fair (Trenton) finished a season best second place followed by Gene Stigall (Winston), Bennie Turner (Smithville) and Josh Steele (St. Joseph). Steele went from tenth to fifth to win the hard charger.

Mike Taylor Jr. (Kansas City) pulled his 11T hotrod into victory lane for the first time in 2012 picking up the win in the “Border War” Grand National division. Taylor had to hold off the likes of three time feature winner Bud Wilson (Trenton), two time feature winner Jason Anderson (Kansas City), former track champion Travis Walker (Cameron) and Rick Steele (St. Joseph). Bud Wilson went from ninth to second to win the hard charger.

Tom Brown (Lincoln, Nebraska) led wire to wire in the Midwest Lightning Sprints tonight as they had a green to checkered run. Brown was followed by Bobby Layne (Kansas City), Ken Billings (Kansas City), M.K. Billings (Kansas City) and Travis Alexander.

Clint Baker (Meadville) held off a hard running Randy Ainsworth at the line to win his first IMCA SportMod feature of the season. Ainsworth (Excelsior Springs) the feature winner from last week gave Baker a look on the inside as they came out of four but Baker was able to hold him off. Mike Tanner (Kansas City) finished third, Brad Whitney (Trenton) was fourth and the winner of the extra cash donated by A To Z Billboards, and fifth went to Casey Schroff (Bethany). Dustin Miller had a long drive from twenty-fourth to eighth for the hard charger.

Lee Farmer (Bethany) pulled out his “Gravedigger” car and pulled out the win in the IMCA Hobby Stocks. Farmer was on a mission tonight as he drove the wheels off his car and pick up his second win in two nights, his first this season at I-35. Scott Treadwell (Trenton) had another impressive run in second, Billie Hoover (Stewartsville) finally shaking those mechanical woes finished third, Alex Anderson (Trenton) had a great run in fourth and Desmond Theel (Belton) with his best run came home fifth. Farmer went from seventh to first to win the hard charger.

“Mr. Excitement” Jim Cameron (Cameron) picked up his first win of the season in the IMCA Modifieds. Cameron took the lead on lap two and set sail on the field. Cory Wray (Jamesport) finally had a good run finishing second and had a few shots at Cameron on restarts but Cameron was not going to be denied. Buz Kaster (Kansas City) was third in only his second start of the season, JJ Baumli (Lathrop) had a good run in fourth and last weeks winner Hunter Marriott (Brookfield) was fifth. Jeff Marriott went from nineteenth to sixth to win the hard charger.

Next week is CARB night at I-35 Speedway all CARB members receive free admission to the grandstands. As the degrees begin to climb so does the racing action at I-35 Speedway!
