Donnellson, IA (Saturday, October 10, 2015) – Saturday night was the second and final night of the “4th Annual Fall Extravaganza” presented by Armstrong Tractors, Budweiser, Donnellson Tire and Service, and Midwest Performance and Power at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA. After the final checkered flag was waved Kyle Brown (Budweiser Modifieds), Curtis Van Der Wal (Shottenkirk of Ft. Madison SportMods), Dustin Griffiths (Coors Light Hobby Stocks), and Jake Benischek (Armstrong Tractors Sport Compacts) repeated their wins from Friday night, while Cayden Carter topped the Donnellson Tire and Service Stock Car feature.

The first feature to take to the track on the night was the 16 lap Coors Light Hobby Stocks, with Dustin Griffiths and Justin Lichty drawing the front row. Griffiths would take advantage of his front row starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1 over Justin Wacha and Brandon Symmonds. Just after the completion of lap 1 the first of four cautions appeared, as debris down the front stretch slowed the action. On the restart Griffiths jumped back out front, with Symmonds over taking Wacha for second. Debris down the backstretch on lap 5 brought the action to a halt for the second time of the race. Griffiths once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Wacha and Nick Ulin, who started 7th, both over taking Symmonds for the second and third spots. Cautions on lap 8 and 11, brought the field back to Griffiths’ back bumper. But Griffiths grabbed the lead on the final restart and then held off Ulin to pick up his second win of the weekend and another $500 to go with it. Ulin settled for 2nd, Wacha was 3rd, Dale Porter started 9th and finished 4th, with Lichty holding on for a 5th place finish.

Up next was the 20 lap Shottenkirk of Ft. Madison SportMod feature, with Austen Becerra and Erick Knutsen leading the field to the drop of the green flag. But just as the green flag waved the caution light would come on, as debris in turn 1 brought out the yellow. On the restart third place starter Sam Wieben jumped out into the lead on lap 1 over Becerra and Brayton Carter, who started 5th. After lap 1 was scored complete the yellow light would come on, as Matt Richards spun in turn 4 and collected Brandon Dale to bring out the yellow. Wieben moved back out front on the restart, with Carter over taking Becerra for the runner up spot. The third caution of the race appeared on lap 4, when Tony Olson, who started 22nd and had charged up to 7th, got into the guardrail in turn 1 to bring out the yellow. Once again Wieben jumped out front on the restart, with Carter and Curtis Van Der Wal, who started 6th, battling for the runner up spot. One lap later, lap 5, Jake McBirnie, who was running 6th, spun in turn 2 to bring out the caution. On the restart Wieben moved back out front, with Carter and Van Der Wal close behind. Van Der Wal would clear Carter for the runner up spot on lap 7 and then went to work on Wieben for the top spot. Just as Van Der Wal got up beside Wieben for the lead, John Oliver Jr. would spin in turn 4 to slow the action down. Wieben grabbed the lead on the restart, with Van Der Wal trying to get under him. On lap 12 Van Der Wal was able to slip under Wieben coming off turn 2 to grab the top spot away on lap 13. Van Der Wal then started to pull away, when the final caution of the race appeared on lap 17. This time Michael Joe Bliven spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Van Der Wal moved back out front and then held off Carter to claim his second win of the weekend at the track and another $1,000 to go with it. Carter was 2nd, Wieben was 3rd, Tony Dunker, who started 16th and crossed the line in 4th, was docked 4 spots after the checkers for jumping the final restart, which moved Jim Gillenwater, who started 10th, up to 4th, and Jeremiah Hurst up to complete the top 5.

Jeremy Pundt and Todd Reitzler made up the front row for the 22 lap Donnellson Tire and Service Stock Car feature, with Pundt taking advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Kirk Kinsley and Reitzler. The action up front was slowed for the first time on lap 2, when a tire was clipped in turn 4 and pushed onto the track to bring out the yellow. On the restart Pundt moved back out front, with Kinsley and Cayden Carter close behind. While Pundt worked the bottom of the track, Carter went to the top of the track to edge Pundt at the line by half a car length on lap 6 to grab the lead. At the same time Mike Hughes, who started 10th, had worked his way up to 3rd. Disaster would strike Pundt on lap 9, as he spun in turn 2 while running 4th. But he would do a 360 and kept going to prevent a caution from coming out. Carter would start to enter lapped traffic by lap 15, which allowed Hughes to close in on his back bumper. Hughes was able to get up beside Carter on lap 19, only to have the final caution appear to slow the battle down. Another tire was clipped and pushed onto the track in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Carter moved back out front, with Hughes, David Brandies, who started 6th, and Zach VanderBeek, who started 9th, racing three wide off turn 2 for the runner up spot. Carter held on over the final 3 laps to pick up the win and the $1,000 top prize to go with it. Brandies won the battle for 2nd, Hughes was 3rd, VanderBeek was 4th, with Jeff Mueller coming from 12th to round out the top 5.

Up next was the 15 lap Armstrong Tractors Sport Compact feature, with Jake Benischek and Shaun Slaughter drawing the front row. Just as the green flag was waved the caution light would come on, as Jacob Reiter and Renny McCarty spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Benischek jumped out front to lead lap 1 over Slaughter and Chuck Fullenkamp. After the completion of lap 1 the red would wave, as Daniel Campbell clipped a tire in turn 4 and rolled to bring out the red. He would climb from the car okay. Benischek moved back out front on the restart, with Slaughter and Fullenkamp close behind. The action up front was slowed for the third time on lap 3, when Adam Gates came to a stop in turn 2 to bring out the caution. Once again Benischek grabbed the lead on the restart, with Slaughter trying to get under him for the lead. But three laps later, lap 6, another red would slow the battle up front. This time Jerrod Nichols got up on his side in turn 4 to bring out the red. On the final restart Benischek moved back out front and then held off Slaughter to pick up his second win of the weekend and another $300 to go with it. Slaughter settled for 2nd, Kimberly Abbott charged from 11th to finish in 3rd, Fullenkamp was 4th, with Luke Benischek coming home in 5th.

The final feature to take to the track was the 25 lap Budweiser Modifieds, with Rich Smith and Matt Werner leading the field to the green flag. Smith would take advantage of his front row starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1 over Kyle Brown, who started 5th, and Werner. The action was slowed for the first time on lap 2, as Kevin Smith spun in turn 3 and collected Jeff Waterman to bring out the yellow. Bad thing for Waterman, who was suppose to start in 3rd, but pulled in on the parade lap and rejoined the back of the field just before the green flag was waved. On the restart Rich Smith moved back out front, with Brown and Andrew Schroeder close behind. While Smith worked the bottom of the track, Brown worked the top of the track to grab the lead away on lap 5. Brown then started to pull away from the battle behind him, even entering lapped traffic by lap 13. But a final caution on lap 15 would bring the field back to his back bumper. This time Mike Joski spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Brown jumped back out front, with Schroeder working to hold back Bruce Hanford, who started 11th, for the runner up spot. Hanford would slip past Schroeder on lap 17 for the second spot. But didn’t have time to chase down Brown for the lead, as he went on to claim his second win on the weekend and another $1,000 to go with it. Hanford settled for 2nd, Tyler Groenendyk started 7th and finished 3rd, Schroeder was 4th, with David Brown charging from 17th to round out the top 5.
