MUSEUM TO OFFER RICK FERKEL/”THE OHIO TRAVELER” DIE-CAST #0 SPRINT CAR AS 2012 “MEMBERS ONLY” CAR
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (June 8, 2012) – The non-profit National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation is pleased to announce that it has started taking orders for its eighth “Members Only” die-cast sprint car, which is the famous Rick Ferkel-driven #0 sprint car from 1984. The 2012 die-cast, produced by R&R Enterprises exclusively for the museum to support its annual membership program, honors 1990 Hancock County (Ohio) Sports Hall of Fame and 1995 National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee Rick Ferkel. Supporting members of the museum foundation can order the 1/18th-scale “The Ohio Traveler” sprinter by calling 1-800-874-4488.
Rick Ferkel, who was born in Green Springs, has lived in the Tiffin-Bowling Green-Fostoria area of northern Ohio his entire life. He is known as one of the ‘Original Outlaws,’ having competed with the All Star Circuit of Champions (ASCoC) under C.H. “Bud” Miller and Bert Emick in the 1970’s and ‘80s and Ted Johnson’s World of Outlaws (WoO) beginning in 1978. In fact, Rick Ferkel was runner-up to champion Steve Kinser in the inaugural year for the World of Outlaws.
This beautiful 1/18th-scale car will have the same high-quality features as have all of the museum’s previous “Members Only” die-cast cars. R&R Enterprises purchased the modern era sprint car molds from GMP. As with the “Members Only” cars produced in 1998, 2000, ’02, ’04, ’06, ’08, and ’10, production will be limited.
The Rick Ferkel 1984 “The Ohio Traveler” Sprint Car #0 die-cast sprint car will only be available through the non-profit National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation at a retail price of $84.95. Orders can be placed by calling the museum at 1-800-874-4488 or by mailing the completed order form, which can be found on-line at http://www.sprintcarhof.com/Pages/SpecialEvents, with payment back to the museum at P.O. Box 542, Knoxville, Iowa, 50138. FAX orders will be accepted at 641-842-6177, while e-mailed orders will be accepted at giftshop@sprintcarhof.com. No phone orders will be accepted during the 52nd Goodyear Knoxville Nationals, August 8-11. National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation annual supporting memberships ($25) are required in order to purchase this “Members Only” museum-benefit die-cast sprint car and they are also available when ordering the die-cast sprint car. The museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation organized in the state of Iowa on April 25, 1986.
The deadline for ordering these special “Members Only” die-cast cars is September 1, with all orders shipped in time for delivery by December 25.
