WINSTON, MO (June 9, 2012) – It was MotorcycleCloseouts.com night at I-35 Speedway, Outlaw Jim and the Whiskey Benders rocked the Speedway tonight but that was only after the drivers rocked and five drivers rolled to wins.

Brad Whitney (Trenton) and Gene Stigall (Winston) led the IMCA Stock Cars to the green flag in the first feature race of the night. Whitney took the early leads at the drop of the green flag over Stigall, last weeks feature winner. Stigall would challenge Whitney throughout the race before Stigall would get sideways and slip back to seventh. Whitney would cruise to his first win of 2012 in his second start of the season. Dean Wray (Jamesport)  would bring the 77 machine home second, Greg Keuhn (Trenton) finished third, after an early spin Jon Boller Jr. (St. Joseph) was fourth and Jake Cameron (Winston) finished fifth. Dean Wray came from eleventh to second for his second consecutive hard charger award.

In the “Border War” Grand Nationals it was Austin Johnson and Mike Taylor Jr. leading them to the green. Johnson (Kansas City) would take the early advantage and looked pretty good out front leading the first five laps before two time feature winner Thomas Roberts (Kidder) snuck by on the inside. Roberts would lead the next five before he lost grip on the rear tires and Bud Wilson (Trenton) would get by and pick up his fourth win of the year. Thomas Roberts would finish second, Mike Taylor Jr. (Kansas City) came home thbird, Rick Steele (St. Joseph) was fourth and Don Marrs (Shawnee, KS) was fifth. Wilson started eighth and finished first to win the hard charger.

For the last month Brett Shields (Mt. Ayr, IA) has been relegated to driving one handed with a cast on one arm. Tonight the cast was off and Shields motored to his first win of the season in the IMCA SportMods. Shields battled it out early with Paige Shaw and had to hold twart a fast, clean attack by Jeff Stotts. Stotts (Trenton) finished second, Randy Ainsworth (Excelsior Springs) has been on a roll the last few weeks continued his success with a third place showing, Jeremy Pittsenbarger (Cameron) continued his string of good runs finishing fourth and Doug Keller (St. Joseph) making his first start of 2012 was fifth. Keller went from fourteenth to fifth to win the hard charger.

Paul Grenier and Billie Hoover led the IMCA Hobby Stocks to the green tonight and Grenier would take the early advantage. Grenier led some laps and even pulled away a few times from four time winner Eric Stanton (Hartford, IA). Stanton would eventually get by and had to hold off Lee Farmer, who has won two in a row at I-35. Farmer challeged for the lead but got turned around trying to get by Stanton and that would allow Stanton to criuse to his fifth win of the season. Desmond Theel (Belton) had a good run finishing second, Billie Hoover (Stewartsville) finished third, Alexis Whitney (Trenton) was fourth and Dave Truskett (Cowgill) was fifth. Theel came from sixteenth to second for the hard charger.

Todd Wilson (Spickard) picked up win number one on the season in the IMCA Modifieds. Wilson had to hold off Blake Peeler early and Steven Glenn late. Wilson eventually motored away and found victory lane. Glenn (Hamilton) was second, Shay Woods (Humeston, IA) was third, Cory Wray (Jamesport) came home fourth and Jason Estes (Winston) rounded out the top five. Hunter Marriott went from seventeenth to seventh to win the hard charger.

Coming up the rest of June are some special events, next week we have the Midwest Outlaw Vintage Racers on hand, June 23rd the Rian Bree Wilson Memorial where its a $1,000 to win in the IMCA Modifieds and it puts the winner on the Fastshafts All-Star Invitational ballot for the Super Nationals and on June 30th will be our Mid-Season Championship races.
