Deery Brothers season finale heads Iowa Governor’s Cup

DAVENPORT, Ia. (September 17, 2018) – The Davenport Speedway will host the Iowa Governor’s Cup, on Friday, September 21st. The 26th running of the official stock car championship, of the State of Iowa, will be held on the track’s quarter-mile dirt oval.

 

The premiere class at the 2018 Iowa Governor’s Cup will be the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models. This marks the first time the Deery Brothers series has been the headline class of the Governor’s Cup since 1998. Friday’s race is also the 2018 season finale for the Deery Brothers Summer Series.

 

Also racing at the Iowa Governor’s Cup will be IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods , and Street Stocks. Modifieds will run for a $1,000 top prize, $100-to-start, with a $25 entry fee. SportMods and Street Stocks will compete for $500-to-win, $50-to-start, with no entry fee.

 

The two-time defending Governor’s Cup champion is Justin Kay of Wheatland, Iowa. Kay also leads the Deery Brothers point standings coming into the final race.

 

Tickets for the Iowa Governor’s Cup are $20 for adults, $18 for students and seniors, children 12 and under are free. Pit passes are $35.

 

Pit gates open at 3:30pm. Hot laps are at 5:30pm, with racing to follow.
