West Liberty, I-35 events next for Deery Brothers Summer Series
WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (July 5) – A pair of mid-week events are next for the Deery Brothers Summer Series, as drivers following the IMCA Late Model tour embark on a stretch of four races over the course of nine days.
The series makes its second visit of the season to West Liberty Raceway on Tuesday, July 10, then travels to I-35 Speedway in Mason City on Wednesday, July 11.
Both events pay $2,000 to win and a minimum of $250 to start.
Two-time defending Deery champion Ray Guss Jr. of Milan, Ill., was the winner of the April 21 show at West Liberty. Jeff Aikey of Waterloo has won three of the last four features at I-35, the most recent of those events held in 2009.
Pit gates at West Liberty open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow.
Grandstand admission is $16 for adults, $13 for seniors, $10 for students and free for kids 12 and under.
I-35 opens the gates at 5 p.m. and the grandstand at 5:30 p.m. Racing follows 7 p.m. hot laps. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are also on the card, running for $750 to win and all applicable points.
Spectator admission is $15 for adults and $5 for kids ages 6-12. Youngsters five and under get in free.
Pit passes each night are $25.
The series is at Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway on Sunday, July 15 and at Quad City Speedway in East Moline, Ill., on Wednesday, July 18, for the second annual Hershel Roberts Memorial.
Mike Murphy Jr. of Colona, Ill., now has an 11-point edge over Aikey in the point race. Darrel DeFrance of Marshalltown will extend his perfect attendance streak to 395 events when the green flag flies at West Liberty.
