Maquoketa, Iowa (August 3, 2024) –  Kinion Auto Sales hosted Kids Night at the races with an outstanding field of 122 race teams in attendance at the Maquoketa Speedway on Saturday night.

The Kinion Auto Sales IMCA Late Model feature took the green with rookie driver Carter Johnson setting the pace early. Johnson was overtaken by another young driver in Chase Brunscheen before the 93 of Brunscheen slipped off the top side of turn four allowing 5th starting Bryce Garnhart to take the lead. Garnhart went on to set sail on the lip of the track holding off the constant challenges of 10th starting Travis Denning. Garnhart held his line and held on for a hard fought win a car length ahead of Denning with Evan Miller finishing a very close third.

The Veach Septic and Sewer IMCA Modifieds saw pole sitter Timmy Current lead for better than half of the main until 8th starting Jeff (Bone) Larson was able to move out front using the extreme high side of the track. Current ran the low line and was able to hold for second ahead of Charlie Mohr at the checkers.

The QCJeeps.com IMCA Stock Cars saw a first time visitor make his way to victory lane on Saturday night. Miciah Hidlebaugh has raced Maquoketa off an on and yet to score a win. That all changed on Saturday night as Hidlebaugh wheeled his 72H to the win holding off 17th starting Kodey Miles. Gage Neal raced his way to third after being involved in an early race incident that had Neal restarting from the tail of the field.

The Amhof Trucking IMCA Sportmods had another strong field of competitors sign in for Saturday nights race program. Jarrett Franzen steadily worked to the front from a 5th row start and went on to record the win. Franzen raced under the checkers just ahead of Austin Stamm and Jared Staver.

The INEX Legends hosted a Midwest Legends Dirt Series point race on Saturday night and a strong field of 25 drivers took the green for their main event. Kacey Korsmo led the race early until Jackson Lewis and Jordan Miklas were able to overtake Korsmo. Lewis and Miklas battled for the win late with Miklas scoring the Series race win by a very narrow margin over Lewis with Korsmo rounding out the top three.

Jordan Miles continued his hot streak by scoring another win in the Hawkins Trucking & Construction IMCA Hobby Stock Class. Miles is in the running for the Junior National Championship as well as a top five finish in the National IMCA point standings Miles worked to the front from a 10th position start and held off Daniel Wauters at the checkers.

Cyle Hawkins continued his mastery of the Tri City Construction 4 Cylinder class. Hawkins drove his quick number 28 to the checkers ahead of Scott Vetter and Dustin Munn.

The Maquoketa Speedway welcomed the Midwest Vintage Late Model Club to the races on Saturday night with a nice field of Tribute Late Models in attendance. Ray Guss Jr. drove the John Connolly tribute 1976 Chevy Nova to the win ahead of Jeff Walker in the Ronnie Weedon 1975 Camaro.

Saturday, August 10th will be Oly’s Garage of Preston Fan Appreciation night at the races as the Maquoketa Speedway will present a full race program for $5 Adult admission. Hot laps will take to the ¼ mile at 6 pm.
