HALL OF FAMERS RAY LEE GOODWIN & GENE MARDERNESS PROVIDE ‘AN HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE’ AT NATIONALS FAN FAIR 

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (August 4, 2012) – Moderator Gary Guehler and National Sprint Car Hall of Fame (NSCHoF) inductees Ray Lee Goodwin and Gene Marderness will provide ‘An Historical Perspective’ at the seventh annual Knoxville Nationals Fan Fair.  Ray Lee Goodwin won the Knoxville Nationals in 1968 and the International Motor Contest Association (IMCA) title in 1972, while Gene Marderness has been taking quality sprint car racing since the late Forties.  Moderator Gary Guehler, now with the Texas Motor Speedway, is a former World of Outlaws (WoO) publicist and National Speed Sport News staff writer.

Museum curator and fan fair coordinator Tom Schmeh said today, “Wow!  I am personally so excited aboutGary’s forum this year with Hall of Famers Ray Lee Goodwin and Gene Marderness.  This is a fantastic chance for fans, young and old, that have been here at the Nationals at any point in its fifty-two-year history to relive some great memories.  Ray Lee’s done it on the track and Gary and Gene have documented it, in print and on film, respectively.  Fans won’t want to miss this forum on Friday, August 10, at 1 p.m. in the theater on the second floor of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum.”
