Extra B Mod Money This Friday During Christy’s Tasty Queen Night At The Races!
KANSAS CITY, KS (Aug 30, 2012) – Friday night, August 31, 2012 is shaping up to be wild night at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, KS.
Everyone knows what happened in 2011 at Lakeside Speedway. The flood that hit Kansas City did a lot of damage to the big 1/2 mile speedway. Last September and October Marc Olson, the owner of Lakeside Speedway, put out a call for fans, friends and racers to lend a hand in getting the track back up and running. The volunteers came from all over. The owner of Christy’s, Lowell Christy, went above and beyond the call with several of his family members and friends. This passionate bunch helped with any task that was asked of them and even tasks that they weren’t asked to undertake.
Friday night the Christy’s will show their support of Lakeside Speedway again as it’s Christy’s Tasty Queen night at the races.
All the classes will be in action once again. Modifieds, Grand Nationals, B Mods and Factory Stocks will once again perform at their prime as they sprint down the final 5 races of the season. Several drivers will be looking for a points title and others will be looking for a win. B Mods will be racing for extra money on Friday night thanks to MasterTech Automotive of Riverside, MO.
Not that the B Mod drivers needed any more incentive to race harder, the folks at MasterTech Automotive are putting in an extra $400.00 to the top 3 spots for Friday night’s feature. The winner will pocket $500, 2nd takes home $350 and $300 will go the 3rd place finisher.
Last Friday night in the B Mod division there was a first time winner, Jake Richards, and a new leader in the points standings, Gene Claxton. Nick Newton, the previous leader, got caught up in trouble and had to pull out of the race early. Claxton rolled to another top 5 finish and took over the top spot. The feature was one of the better ones of the season as Jack Richards held off a hard charging Mike Higley for the win. It was 1 of 4 great features from a week ago.
Nic Bidinger got off to a good start and then found himself going backwards. Before he had a chance to blink, Bidinger was sitting in the 5th spot. Bidinger’s, John O’Neal Racing, modified caught fire at the midpoint of the race. He started to move forward again and with a couple of laps remaining he overhauled Matt Johnson for his 1st win of the season. Tim Karrick rolled in another top 5 and maintains the points lead for another week.
The Grand National feature came down to a green, white, checkered finish. Tim Shields, who led a majority of the race, would be the leader on the restart. A lapped car would cause significant damage to Shields and when the green came back out he would be a non factor. The battle was going to be between the points leader, Darren Kling, and Gary Donaldson. Both drivers would go side by side into the last corner and Kling got the advantage and his 4th win of the season. It was another great feature on the night.
Factory Stock racing has been phenomenal in 2012. Marshall Jewett took home a stunning win last Friday night. Jewett used a high side blast out of turn 4 to take the win from Nate Barnes. It was Jewett’s 2nd consecutive win in the class. A good points battle is brewing as Justin Seifert leads a wild pack after the championship. This could be the one race at Lakeside Speedway that goes down to the wire.
Adult tickets are $12, kids 8 to 14 $6 and children 7 and under are always free at Lakeside Speedway.
Spectator gates open up at 5 p.m., hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. and the first race goes green at 7:30 p.m.
