KANSAS CITY, KS (October 19, 2012) – Kyle Berck claimed the Lucas Oil MLRA’s 550th sanctioned race with a convincing win Friday night, at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, KS. The perfectly prepared track drew a tough field of 44 Super Late Models for the Clyde Ellis Late Model Showdown. Jesse Stovall piloted his Moyer Victory Circle machine to a second place finish, closing the gap on second place in the championship points to a single marker.

Berck is no stranger to victory lane, as this marks his 16th Late Model win of 2012. “The car’s been really good lately,” stated Berck following the race. “I was fighting hard on the bottom and wasn’t getting the job done early on. We just couldn’t keep up. Chad (Simpson) and (Mark) Dotson was getting out on me. We moved up, fell in line in third and ran ’em back down after a few laps.”

Early in the 30 lap feature, Dotson closed in on race leader Chris Simpson. He eventually settled for a fifth place finish. The Simpson brothers, Chris and Chad worked the field from second and sixth place starting positions, respectively. Chad passed Chris and handful of others and finished third, with Chris in fourth.

A key point in the race came on lap 24 when Berck got into the back of Bill Leighton. Berck changed his line and completed the pass. From that point on he was without challenge, and scored the comfortable win.

Heat race wins went to, Kyle Berck, Mark Dotson, Eric Turner, Jesse Stovall and Chad Simpson. Current Lucas Oil MLRA point’s leader, John Anderson had to race his way into the starting grid through a B Feature. Anderson finished the B Main in second. He started the feature in 21st, and claimed the KRC Hard Charger award with a sixth place finish in the Lucas Cattle Company A-Main Event.
