Speedway Motors renews sponsorship of IMCA Weekly Racing Series through 2017
LINCOLN, Neb. (Dec. 13, 2012) – Speedway Motors returns for the next five race seasons as title sponsor of the IMCA Weekly Racing Series.
The Lincoln, Neb., speed shop, IMCA’s longest tenured marketing partner, will continue to provide jackets, tech official shirts, flags and banners, as well as discounts on tech equipment to help sanctioned tracks minimize the cost of weekly shows.
Speedway Motors’ affiliation with IMCA dates back to 1950, when company founder and chairman of the board ‘Speedy’ Bill Smith first raced in IMCA-sanctioned events.
“Speedway Motors has been supporting IMCA for over 50 years, and we are excited to continue this relationship,” said Smith. “It’s more important than ever to keep weekly dirt track racing safe, fun and affordable for the average racer. IMCA has done a great job of supporting racers by maintaining common sense rules and a strong network of tracks across the country.”
In addition to IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing Series and rookie awards programs, Speedway Motors also returns as title sponsor of Super Nationals. The 30th annual version of America’s Racin’ Vacation brought an event record 874 cars and nearly 30,000 fans to Boone Speedway in September.
The initial five-year Weekly Racing Series pact with Speedway Motors covered the 2008-2012 race seasons. The extension was announced following the Dec. 8-10 International Motorsports Industry Show (IMIS) held in Indianapolis, Ind.
“What renewal of this program means to IMCA and to our sanctioned tracks can’t be understated,” emphasized Brett Root, vice president of operations for the sanctioning body. “Despite a challenging economy, the involvement by Speedway Motors has helped our tracks remain competitive and build car count numbers and their fan base.”
“We look to continue that success over the course of the next five years,” he continued.
Eighty-one drivers registered as rookies received $100 gift cards from Speedway Motors following career-first feature wins in their respective divisions this season.
