FOUR NEW FACES AT MOUNTAIN-DEW BLOOMFIELD SPEEDWAY AND RAIN FOR THE FIFTH FEATURE

BLOOMFIELD, IOWA (April 28, 2012) – The second night of the 2012 point season was held at the Mountain-Dew Bloomfield sponsored by Golden Furrow Fertilizer of Bloomfield, but mother-nature has not been kind to the track with cool temperatures and 3/10th of an inch of rain this week but the action was held and the action has been really hot with three and sometimes four wide action in several classes.
The first feature was the always exciting Taylor Automotive stock cars division with Gary Harward of Floris taking the lead and looked to have his first win of the 2012 season he lead all but the final 200 feet when Derek Kirkland of Centerville would make the pass to spoil Harwards win and scoring his first win of 2012 season for the green 2K machine. This class has seen winners by just inches in the first two weeks. Kirkland came from the tenth starting spot for the win and Beau Taylor of Canton, Mo. Would race his way from the seventh spot to the third place finish and fourth went to Mike Harward of Floris.
In the Karr Kollision Center A-Modifieds Brandon Banks looked to have his first win of 2012 season but would have trouble ¾ of a lap short after a broken tie rod would send him into the turn one fencing on the white flag lap. This would turn over the lead to Tyler Cale of Donnellson who would take over the lead for a green, white and checker run but a flat right rear tire would cause him to retire just laps short of a win. This would turn the lead over to Cayden Carter of Oskaloosa who would take the win from the seventh starting spot. The second spot went to Tyler Vandekamp of Ankeny for the second week in a row and took over the point lead. The third spot went to Jeff Eddy of Milan, Missouri but was later disqualified moving Beau Taylor of Canton, Missouri into the third spot and Tyler Cale in fourth.
The always exciting Kollision Korner sport compacts saw Kassidy Kirkpatrick of Ottumwa breaking the win streak of Larry Hopkins of Ottumwa. But the first lap was red flagged for the 15A of Chris Archer of Queen City, Missouri taking a very scary ride getting upside down in turns one and two but Archer walked away but his machine was really hurt bad. When the racing action resumed Kassidy Kirkpatrick took the lead and never looked back holding off a charge from his dad Kevin Kirkpatrick of Ottumwa who tried to close the gap on son but Kassidy was to strong and Kevin settled for the runner-up spot with Hopkins taking third and Jim Garrett of Ottumwa taking fourth.
In the fourth feature of the night the Kirkland Auto hobby stock feature Ben Grove of Eldon looked to have everything under control when the green flag dropped but a right rear tire would end his run to the checkers. Danny Thrasher of Agency would take the lead and score his first win of 2012 season holding off Dustin Griffiths of Ottumwa who raced his way from fourth to the second spot. The third spot went to last week’s winner Rocky Fosdyck of Floris who had problems in hot laps and found himself starting ninth and took third and Don Nunnikhoven of Sully taking the fourth spot.
When the featured class of the night rolled onto the speedway mother-nature started to drop light sprinkles and later heavier rain causing the Mike’s Tire & Alignment double down feature to be postponed to May 28th. When the feature resumes Jim Gillenwater of Keokue will have the lead over Jason McDaniel of Eldon. This rescheduling will also have a really nice payday if someone can win both features it could be a $1000 night with the added money.
This week’s action will feature a special for the A-Modifieds with a draw/redraw show sponsored by Davis Co. Hospital Night for (Cinco de Mayo)-Nurses Week (Discounted admission for Nurses-bring ID or wear your scrubs) also get your blood pressure taken by the Davis Co. Hospital Staff.
