Big Events and Specials throughout May at Davenport Speedway
DAVENPORT, Ia. (May 2, 2013) – The month of May has always held special meaning in the world of motorsports. From the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race to the Indianapolis 500, big racing events dot the May calendar. The Davenport Speedway is no exception.
This Friday, May 3rd, the racetrack has added Powder Puff Races to the program. Powder Puff Races give the mothers, wives, daughters, and girlfriends of our racers a chance to experience what it is like behind the wheel. In addition, all five weekly classes, Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Models, EMS IMCA Modifieds, Koehler Electric Street Stocks, Hawkeye Auto IMCA SportMods, and Roto-Rooter 4-Stocks, will also be racing on the quarter-mile oval.
Next Friday, May 10th is the first Kid’s Night of the season at the Davenport Speedway. Children 12 and under get in free, with a paid adult.
Excitement is already building for the Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series event rescheduled for Friday, May 17th. A $3,000 payday awaits the winner of the Corn Belt Clash race. The open late model racecars will be running on the Davenport Speedway’s big, half-mile oval.
Friday, May 24th brings the IMCA Modified Madness 50 to the Davenport Speedway. The 50-lapper pays $2,000 to the winner and is the first of four specials for the track’s support classes. Weekly points races will be held for the other classes.
Kile Motorsports Night is Friday, May 31st. Races will be held in all five weekly classes.
The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa. Pit gates will open Friday at 4:30pm, with hotlaps at 6:30 and racing at 7:00pm.
