DAVENPORT, Ia. (May 15, 2013) – The Davenport Speedway is set to host the Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series this Friday, May 17th. A $3,000 top prize awaits the winner of the Karsyn’s Krusaders 40-lap feature. The open late model racecars will be competing on the Davenport Speedway’s big, half-mile oval.

Chad Simpson of Mt. Vernon, Iowa, is the 3-time defending champion of the Corn Belt Clash series and already has two wins this season.

The Karsyn’s Krusaders 40 was originally scheduled for April 12th, at the Davenport Speedway, but was rained out.

Also racing on the half-mile will be IMCA Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and 4-Stocks. No track points will be awarded, but IMCA Late Models and IMCA Modifieds will earn points towards the state and national titles.

The high-speed excitement continues on May 24th, at the IMCA Modified Madness 50. Victory in the 50-lap main will earn one driver a $2,000 payday. Weekly point races will be held in the other classes.

The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa. Pit gates will open Friday at 4:30pm, the grandstand at 5:00pm, with hotlaps at 6:30 and racing at 7:00pm.
