Donnellson, IA (Friday, June 28, 2013) – For the second week in a row, which has been very rare during the 2013 season, the Lee County Speedway was able to get there weekly program completed. It was All Pro Lawn and Hoenig Lawn Care Night at the track, which featured a 30 lap Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCA SportMod special.

The first feature to take to the track was the 10 lap Sunline Auto Parts IMCA Sport Compacts, with Mike Hornung Jr. and Brandon Lambert on the front row. Lambert would take advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Austen Becerra. While Lambert worked to hold back Becerra, Kimberly Abbott and Brandon Reu had a good battle going for third. Becerra, who used the bottom of the track, was able to get up beside Lambert, who was working the top side of the track, thru the corners, but Lambert would edge him out each lap at the line to keep the lead. Lambert would go on to lead all 10 laps of caution free racing to claim his second win of the season at the track. Becerra settled for 2nd, Reu won the battle for 3rd, Abbott was 4th, with Hornung Jr. coming home in 5th.

Up next was the 16 lap Donnellson Tire IMCA Stock Car feature, with Corey Strothman and Jim Lynch leading the field to the drop of the green flag. Strothman jumped out into the lead on lap 1 over John Oliver Jr. and Abe Huls and then held it until lap 9, when Huls slipped by for the top spot. On the same lap Oliver Jr. would slip into second and stayed glued to Huls back bumper. Oliver Jr. would try to get under Huls over the final 8 laps, but Huls was able to hold him off to claim his second win in the last three races at the speedway. Oliver Jr. was 2nd, Strothman was 3rd, Lynch was 4th, with Jeremy Pundt rounding out the top 5.

Danny Miller and Ricky Miller Jr. led the field to the green in the 12 lap Coor’s Light IMCA Hobby Stock feature. But it was fourth place starter Jason See who grabbed the lead on lap 1 over Danny Thrasher, who started 6th. See then had to work to hold back Thrasher and Nick Ulin, when the first and only caution of the event came out on lap 10. Mike Hornung Jr. would spin in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart See jumped back out front, while Thrasher had to work to hold off Ulin in the battle for second. See then went on to lead the final 2 laps to pick up his first win of the season at the track. Thrasher won the battle for 2nd, Ulin was 3rd, Danny Miller held on for 4th, with Hornung Jr. finishing in 5th.

Up next was the 16 lap Budweiser IMCA Modified feature, with Steve Stewart and Levi Smith leading the field to the green. Stewart would use his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Jeff Waterman and Tyler Cale. Just after the completion of lap 1 Justin Hill would spin in turn 4 to bring out the first caution. On the restart Stewart moved back out front, with Cale and Bill Roberts Jr. moving up to challenge him. But just after the completion of lap 2 Hill would spin in turn 4 to bring out the caution, his second solo to end his night early. Stewart once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Cale looking under him to try and grab the lead away. But Stewart would go on to lead all 16 laps to claim his second win in a row at the track, after picking up last Thursday’s Hawkeye Dirt Tour win. Cale would settle for 2nd, Roberts Jr. was 3rd, Brandon Banks came from 8th to finish in 4th, with Waterman holding on for 5th.

The final feature of the night was the 30 lap Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCA SportMod feature, with a pit stop on the front stretch scheduled at the halfway point. Tony Dunker and Kyle Hill drew the front row for the feature, with Dunker jumping out front on lap 1 over Hill and Derek St. Clair. The action was slowed for the first time on lap 2, as Carter VanDenBerg, who started 10th, spun in turn 3 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Dunker  moved back out front, with St. Clair and Bobby Anders, who started 7th, moving in to challenge. Dunker would hold the top spot, while Anders and St. Clair battled side-by-side until lap 6. Robert Gould spun his machine in turn 2 to bring out the caution and slowed the action up front. On the restart Gould would spin down the front stretch to bring the yellow light back on and ending his night. Dunker once again grabbed the lead on the next restart, with St. Clair and Anders going back to there side-by-side battle for second. The action up front was slowed for the final time on lap 9, as Bucky Gollaher spun in turn 1 to bring out the caution. On the restart Dunker jumped out front, with St. Clair and Anders going back for battling for second. Dunker would hold on to the lead at the caution for the pit stop on lap 15. Anders would cross the line in 2nd, St. Clair was 3rd, Brett Lowry came from 8th to 4th, with VanDenBerg recovering from his lap 2 spin to end the first 15 laps in 5th.

After the crews had 10 minutes to change two tires or anything else that they had time to, the field was lined back up to go back to green flag racing for the final 15 laps. Dunker started off where he left off the first 15 laps by grabbing the lead over Anders and St. Clair. Anders would try to get under Dunker over the next 3 laps, before having to defend off VanDenBerg for the runner spot on lap 18. But VanDenBerg would slid to high in turn 4 on lap 20 and lost alot of momentum. Meanwhile Dunker would go on to lead all 30 laps to claim his second win in a row at the track and the $500 top prize. Anders would finish in 2nd, VanDenBerg held on for 3rd, Jim Gillenwater came from 11th to finish in 4th, with Lowry coming home in 5th.
