Top payday of series next at Hancock County for Karl Performance Hawkeye Dirt Tour
BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 6) – The biggest payday of the 2013 tour awaits the winner of Thursday’s Karl Performance Hawkeye Dirt Tour presented by XSAN feature at Hancock County Speedway.
A guaranteed $3,500 goes to the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature winner at Britt on Aug. 8, with $2,500 in lap money and $2,000 in potential bonuses pushing that amount to $8,000.
Doing double duty as the 19th annual Night of 1,000 Stars, the Thursday show pays a minimum of $300 to start and is sponsored by Doug Studer Farms. Bonuses of $1,000 will be paid to the leader at midway and to the winner if they’ve raced at Britt at least four times previously this season.
Three previous HDT events have been held at Hancock County with wins going to Jeremy Mills of Garner in 2010, Clayton Christensen of Spencer in 2011 and Jon Snyder of Ames last year. The victories by Mills and Snyder also came under the Night of 1,000 Stars banner.
Friday’s inaugural Night of 10,000 Stars at Britt boasts a guaranteed paycheck of $7,000 and potential bonuses of $3,000, so either event could become the top paying race in IMCA Modified history.
Bonuses of $1,000 will be paid if the winning driver has a Night of 1,000 Stars title on his resume, if they’ve raced at Britt at least four times previously in 2013 and if they’ve won a weekly feature there this season.
Total purse for the Friday event, sponsored by DuPont Pioneer and Studer Farms, is nearly $28,000.
Both Modified features are 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers and will be 50 laps. All applicable IMCA points will be awarded. Modified tow money each night is $100.
Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 p.m. and racing to follow each night. Adult admission to the grandstand is $15 on Thursday and $18 on Friday. Kids ages 6-12 are $5 and five and under are free both nights.
Pit passes are $35.
