Macon, IL (August 13, 2013) – Macon Speedway, Billingsley Towing and POWRi are proud to announce that the Speedway National Midget and 600cc Outlaw Micro Sprint Series will take center stage at Macon Speedway for the “Dana Godfrey Memorial” on Saturday night, August 17.  The night will consist of POWRi Midgets and Micros and our UMP Billingsley Towing Modified division plus our UMP Street Stocks. The event celebrates the life of Dan Godfrey, late wife of longtime chassis builder and owner of Spike Chassis, John Godfrey.  Dana was a familiar face at the race track and at the speed shop when the couple owned Stealth Chassis.

The POWRi Series first travels to Lincoln Speedway Friday night, August 16 for a full night of action.

This weekend is a huge open wheel weekend for Central Illinois as the races at the Illinois State Fairgrounds feature the USAC Silver Crown cars on Saturday, August 17 competing in the Tony Bettenhausen 100.  The open wheel action then travels to Macon Speedway on Saturday night as the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series and POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series join the UMP Modifieds and UMP Street Stocks for what looks to be an exciting night of racing at Macon Speedway.   Join us back again at the IL State Fair on Sunday with the ARCA Car Series battling for the win in the Allen Crowe Memorial along with the Sportsman Nationals, both races begin at 1:00 pm.  Don’t miss your chance to cheer on the local Macon Speedway drivers on Saturday in the UMP Modified division, and the Sportsman as they will compete in the Sportsman Nationals on Sunday!

POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series leader Andrew Felker holds an 80-point lead over Zach Daum going into Lincoln (Ill.) Speedway on Friday (Aug. 16). POWRi’s Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series also race on Friday at Lincoln and both series are at Macon (Ill.) Speedway on Saturday (Aug. 17) as well. Cale Thomas has a 200-point lead over Nathan Benson for the championship in the Micros. Lincoln and Macon are the start of the stretch run for POWRi, which has eleven events scheduled to run in the Midgets and Micros. The POWRi series will return to Macon for the final showing on September 21.

Macon Speedway will also have a demo show at intermission on Saturday night with Elliot Key. Elliot is 10 years old and he just won first place in both the East and West Youth Nationals Trials events in Moto Trials. Moto Trials is a non-speed event on specialized trials motorcycles. Trials is highly technical and teaches great throttle, balance and machine control. Come out to see Elliot perform his exciting show!

We have lots still planned for 2013 so be sure to come join Macon Speedway for an action packed end to the summer.

Gates will open Friday at Lincoln and Saturday at Macon at 5:00 and racing will start at 7:00.   Adult general admission tickets for both races are $15 and children 11 & under are free.
