WHEATLAND, MO (April 8th, 2014) – With the long cold winter squarely in the rearview mirror, the Lucas Oil MLRA Dirt Late Models storm into the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri this Friday and Saturday, April 11th-12th for the 1st Annual FOX 22 MLRA Spring Nationals Presented by RacingJunk.com!

“The Spring MLRA event has always been a great show for our fans here in Wheatland so this year we decided to do it two nights in a row to kick things off for 2014.” stated Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson. “We’re very proud to partner with FOX 22 TV out of Columbia/Jeff City and with RacingJunk.com to put on this great event as both are first time partners here at the speedway.”

Springfield, Missouri’s Terry Phillips leads the MLRA stars into battle this weekend as the series’ point leader after scoring the opening night win last Saturday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE. Modified standout Rodney Sanders scored the win in Sunday’s nights MLRA finale. Chad Simpson, Brian Birkhofer, Brad Looney, and 2013 MLRA Sunoco Rookie of the Year Travis Dickes round out the top-5 in MLRA points with two events in the books. Chase Junghans, Chris Simpson, Bill Leighton, Tommy Weder Jr., and Dave Eckrich sit sixth through tenth respectively.

Two provisionals are available each night for Lucas Cattle Company ULMA racers as the two highest qualified ULMA legal cars each night that don’t make the field through heats and b-mains will be eligible for a provisionals provided that they are 2014 ULMA Members.

In addition to the MLRA Late Models, NASCAR Star Ken Schrader leads a stellar field of Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds both nights as he makes his first appearance in Wheatland in more than 10 years. The Carson’s Corner Napa Auto Parts Factory Stocks will be in action as well with all three classes running complete shows each night.

The USRA Modifieds will run a $500 to win show on Friday followed by a special $1,000 to win show courtesy of Hermitage Lumber on Saturday with both shows counting towards track and national USRA Points. The Factory Stocks hit the dirt for $300 to win on Friday followed by a special $750 to win event courtesy of Elite Auto Repair on Saturday as both shows will also be counted toward 2014 track points.

Saturday night will also include many great attractions and activities for the entire family at Lucas Oil Speedway. A driver autograph session will take place before hot laps with the Lucas Oil MLRA drivers. Bounce Houses from Party Station, Kona Ice, Kettle Treats, Cowgirl Kate, Frog’s Sign Jr. Fan Club, Face Painting, NWTF Raffle, CB Race Photo’s and much more! An open practice session will be held on Thursday evening from 6-9pm. Pit passes are $20 with FREE Grandstand admission. There will be no concessions available but the Diamond Bar will be open after the practice session.
