Coming up this week, Saturday, May 10 will be Ryner Transportation Night at the races with all six classes in action.
The first feature of the night was the Ryner Transporation IMCA Modifieds with fourteen of the open wheel machines taking to the track. Dugan Thye and Jeff Waterman held the front row spot with Waterman taking the lead on the first completed lap. Waterman would pull away from the field as a battle for second went on between Thye, Tyler Glass and Mitch Morris. Four cautions in the twenty lap race would close the field up on the leader, Waterman, but he would continue to pull away after each restart and went on to take the checkered flag for his first win this year at the 3/8 mile. Glass would win the battle for second followed by Mitch Morris, Brandon Rothzen and Thye rounding out the top five.
Fourteen Coors Light Mod Lite cars took to the track next with Jared Halcomb and Gary Snyder on the front row. Michael Dominguez took the early lead on the first lap from his second row start. A caution on lap two allowed Justin Buchholz to then take the lead on the restart. Buchholz would lead the field for the next ten laps with Daniel Keltner giving chase. Keltner would catch the leader and on the final lap of the race would pull along side Buchholz as they crossed the finish line. Buchholz pulled out the win by a mere couple feet for his second win this year at 34 Raceway. Shon Sanders, Jimmy Halcomb and Collin Ball rounded out the top five.
The Pepsi IMCA Stock Car feature saw Bo Hunter and Chad Krogmeier on the front row of the sixteen car field. Hunter took the early lead before Shane Watts would take over the first place spot following a caution on lap three. Watts led the field for the next eight laps of the twenty lap race before John Oliver, Jr. went to the inside of Watts coming out of turn four for the lead. Oliver would go on to take the checkered flag followed by Watts, Hunter, Krogmeier and Ray Raker rounding out the top five.
A red flag on the first lap delayed the start of the 20 car W.T. Gabeline and Sons Trucking 305 Sprint feature when Cody Werhle, flipped is 305 machine coming out of turn three. Dustin Whiting and Dillan Roth were also involved in the wreck ending their racing for the night. When action resumed Kyle Peterson would take the first lead of the race leading the field for the next fourteen laps. Jayson Ditsworth, moved up from his sixth row start to pass Peterson going to the outside to take over the lead with four laps to go. Ditsworth would go on to take the checkered flag for his first win this year followed by Peterson, Daniel Bergquist, Justin Newberry and Donnie Stewart to round out the top five.
Twenty of the twenty two Casebine Credit Union IMCA Sport Mods checked in for the night went to the track for their feature event with Rodger Dresden and Creston Williams on the front row. Dresden led the fifteen lap race for the first two laps before Creston Williams went low to get the lead on lap 3. The two exchanged positions again one lap later. But joining the fun was Bobby Anders who took the fourth lead of the race on lap 6. Anders had to work to hold off Tony Dunker for the next seven laps until Dunker would slow with two laps go with mechanical problems. Anders would then take the checkered flag with Ryan Fullenkamp following for second. Rodger Dresden , Sean Wyett, and Brett Timmerman rounded out the top five when Creston Williams, who crossed the finish line fourth was disqualified in tech. Wyett and Timmerman moved up for the 17th ad 16th start spots to finish in the top five.
The Louisa Communications 4 Cylinders capped off the evening for the final feature race of the night with Austen Becerra picking up his second win. Dustin Ravelin took the early lead in the twenty-two car field. But Ravelin’s lead would go away when Ron Kibbe made contact with Ravelin who would then spin and bring out the yellow flag. After three more cautions Austen Becerra had taken over the lead and held off Brandon Setser and Wayne Noble who had moved up from his nineth row start finish third. John Whalen and Rachael Reger rounded out the top five.
