Spieker, Stewart, Pitzer and Vicker take Adams County Speedway
victories
CORNING, Ia. (May 6, 2006) - It was 3M night along with Teacher Feature races at
the Adams County Speedway and the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series for the second
event of the season. Chris Spieker, Russell Stewart, Rick Pitzer and Ryan Vicker
came home with the racing victories. The second annual Teacher Feature event was
won by the team from Griswold High School with teacher Brittany Elmquist as the
driver.
Last week’s misfortunes landed defending NASCAR division II champion Chris
Spieker on the front row of the Dodge late model feature. After a few early race
cautions, the last 23 laps went non-stop as Spieker ran away and hid from the
field to claim the victory. Ed Kosiski worked up to second late in the race
after winning the battle with Bryant Goldsmith through lapped traffic. At the
finish it was Spieker, Ed Kosiski, Goldsmith, Joe Kosiski and Karl Ritterbusch.
The Budweiser modifieds ran the only non-stop feature of the night as Denny
Rosenberg claimed the early lead and began to pull away. Russell Stewart had no
intentions of letting Rosenberg get too far as he worked to second from his
sixth starting spot and reeled in Rosenberg for the lead. After a few laps of
sizing up the leader, Stewart blasted around the outside to take the lead and
left the rest of the field far behind in claiming his first career ACS victory.
Rosenberg finished second ahead of Dan Mueller, Jeremy Tibben and Jeff James.
Rick Pitzer started second in the Northland Oil pro street feature, ran the high
side, led all the laps and took the victory, but this was far from an easy win.
As Pitzer led early in the going, the racing behind him was as good as it gets
with lots of three and a few four wide battles. Late in the going, Joe Zadina
and Tony Hardisty put heavy pressure on Pitzer, but neither had what it took to
get around him for the lead. Pitzer scored the win with Zadina, Hardisty, Ron
Ballinger and Dave Schafroth rounding out the top five.
Matt Williamson broke out of early traffic to lead the beginning of the NAPA
hobby stock feature. Williamson’s lead lasted quite a while until Ryan Vicker
went around the outside as Matt Hudson made it three wide by going to the
bottom. Vicker and Hudson then had to hold off Les Helvie to retain the top
spots. Vicker went on to take the win over Hudson, Helvie, Jerry Parker and
David Weeda.
