Spieker, Mueller, Zadina and Vicker take Adams County Speedway features

CORNING, IA (July 8, 2006) - Saturday night was Okey Vernon First National Bank night for the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series at the Adams County Speedway. Chris Spieker, Dan Mueller, Joe Zadina and Ryan Vicker all picked up feature wins.

Pat Shiflett jumped into early command of the NAPA hobby stock feature and held on for the first six laps. Ryan Vicker quickly moved up from his 11th starting spot to get into contention, then worked around Shiflett for the lead, which he would not give up in this caution-free feature. Vicker’s win was his third of the season. Brad Derry won a fierce battle for second, but was disqualified for an illegal carburetor. Second through fifth went to Jeff Tuttle, Brad Bergren, Les Helvie and Jeremy Swanson.

Joe Zadina shot to the early lead of the Northland Oil pro street feature and it was a lead he would never give up. Steve Churchill was the first challenger for the lead, but he had nothing for Zadina. Mike Garner made quick work of getting from his 11th starting position to contend for the lead, but was never able to mount enough of a run to get the lead from Zadina. Zadina’s win was his second of the season, with Garner, Churchill, Tony Hardisty and Billy Rock rounding out the top five.

Last week’s misfortunes landed Dan Mueller and Jeremy Tibben in the first and third starting positions of the Budweiser modified feature and after a first lap incident, they were on the front row together for the next restart. They fought hard for the first lap lead with Mueller taking the spot, which he would never relinquish. Tibben was left to fend off Kirby Stiens and Ryan Peckham, who had come from their fifth row starting spots to challenge up front. Mueller’s win was his second on the year with Tibben, Stiens, Peckham and Larry Foote rounding out the top five.

Bryant Goldsmith wasted no time in blasting to the front of the Dodge late model feature. The pressure from behind Goldsmith soon began as Chris Spieker and Joe Kosiski moved in to battle for the lead. After several laps, Spieker was finally able to clear Goldsmith for the lead, but Goldsmith remained close at hand and battled back to try to retake the lead. Spieker gradually pulled away leaving Goldsmith to fend off Kosiski for second. Kosiski was able to get second place only where it mattered, at the finish line and only by .008 seconds. Spieker got his fifth win of the season, and behind Kosiski and Goldsmith were Jeremy Houck and Ed Kosiski to round out the top five.
