2006 Adams County Speedway Champions Honored at Banquet
ATLANTIC, IA (Jan. 26, 2007) - The 2006 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series season at the
Adams County Speedway finally has a period at the end of it following the
presentation of awards at the annual Champions Banquet held at the Cass County
Community Center in Atlantic.
Brad Bergren was crowned the NAPA hobby stock champion for the first time
following a season with no wins, but a steady dose of consistency. Trophies were
presented to all the top fifteen in points which was Bergren, Matt Hudson, Brad
Derry, Cory Luther, Les Helvie, Jim Tull, Ryan Vicker, David Weeda, Matt
Williamson, Trent Davison, Jeremy Swanson, Kevin Yearington, Jerry Parker, Cody
Werner, and Jason Parker.
Mike Garner has always been a front runner in the Northland Oil pro street class
and he capped off the 2006 season as it’s champion for the second time.
Following Garner in the top fifteen in points were Steve Churchill, Joe Zadina,
Tony Hardisty, Billy Rock, Greg Miller, Rick Pitzer, Ron Ballinger, Jeff Orr, AJ
Miller, David Schafroth, Craig Garner, Ed Hamilton, Scott Bond, and Robert
Hague.
Jeremy Tibben captured his first Budweiser modified championship by winning a
tie-breaker over Dan Mueller with a four to three advantage in feature wins.
Tibben and Mueller were followed in the top fifteen by Jerry Carlson, Kirby
Stiens, Russell Stewart, Randy Foote, Brian Foote, Chris Hogan, Jeff James,
Jesse Dennis, Ryan Peckham, Todd Van Eaton, John O’Neal, Jr, Larry Foote, and
Richard Spriggs.
Chris Spieker capped off another strong season with his fifth championship in
the Dodge late models after fending off Joe Kosiski and Bryant Goldsmith. Those
three were followed in points by Karl Ritterbusch, Todd McKee, Scott Koskovich,
Jeremy Houck, Trent Jackson, Josh Most, Troy McKee, Jason O’Brien, Ryan Vicker,
Ed Kosiski, Corey Zeitner, and Jamie Kinyon.
Sponsorship appreciation plaques were presented to R&S Auto Sales, 3M, Diamond
Oil, Lincoln Electric, Cellular 29 Plus, Doll Distributing, Iowa State Savings
Bank, Dodge Dealers, Bain Painting, Coca-Cola, Ironman Racing Supply, Northland
Oil, and Keane Thummel Trucking.
Keane Thummel Trucking Best Appearing Car awards went to Jeremy Houck, Kirby
Stiens, Ed Hamilton, and Matt Hudson.
Hampel Racing Most Improved Driver awards were presented to Bryant Goldsmith,
Ryan Peckham, Jeff Orr and Brad Derry.
Bain Painting Hard Charger awards went to Chris Spieker, Dan Mueller, Joe Zadina
and Matt Hudson.
Dodge Dealer’s Sportsmanship awards were presented to Joe Kosiski, Chris Hogan,
Steve Churchill and Brad Bergren.
KMA “This Week in Racing” presented the driver of the year award to Jerry
Carlson.
The Dodge Dealer’s Citizenship Award was given to Rick Cabbage following years
of dedicated service to the race program. Rick is going into semi-retirement to
spend more weekend time with family activities.
The Craftsman Gold Wrench Award was presented by Meghan Miley of NASCAR to Rex
Haggerty .
Each year, NASCAR presents it’s tracks with various awards for outstanding
efforts in all the different areas of race promotions. This year’s award for
“Outstanding Race Day Communications” was presented to Bob Harris, Steve Cabbage
and Rick Cabbage.
The 2007 season will begin with a practice day on April 7th and the season
opener on April 14th. More details will be posted at
