Week’s Rain Forces Cancellation at Adams County Speedway
CORNING, IA (Aug 25) - The rains of last week that left most of the Midwest
under water have forced the cancellation of the NASCAR Whelen All-American
Series for Saturday night at the Adams County Speedway. The infield conditions
are nothing short of ‘soupy’. Also, crews will not be able to begin prepping the
track until sometime in the afternoon, which does not leave the time required to
make track conditions suitable for racing.
Next week will be one of the bigger event nights ever scheduled at the Adams
County Speedway. Cellular 29 Plus and Lyrix Wireless will celebrate their 15th
Anniversary by having special guest Al Unser, Jr. come to the facility for an
autograph session. Unser is a two-time Indy 500 champion and has many other
accomplishment to his credit which include being a two-time CART champion as
well as a two-time IROC champion.
On the track for a night of Whelen All-American Series action will be the
regular show of the NAPA hobby stocks, Northland Oil pro streets, Budweiser
modifieds and Whelen late models. It will also be the Whelen late model king of
the hill presented by Sunoco/Diamond Oil/Ironman Racing Supply. Also in
attendance for the first time will be a fifth class of cars, which will be the
NRP rules Crate late models.
Admission prices for seeing five classes of cars, plus racing champion Al Unser,
Jr will be the regular $8 for adults, $6 for teens and 12 and under are free.
Gates will open at 5:00, the autograph session will begin at 5:30, hot laps are
at 6:30 with racing beginning at 7:00. For more information call 712-785-3271,
