“THE TRADITION RETURNS”
CORNING, IA (Sept. 9) - For the ninth year The Tradition will make a return
to the Adams County Speedway, in Corning, Iowa on Saturday September 22, 2007.
An event putting NASCAR and IMCA drivers on the same track on the same night for
bragging rights. Three classes of cars will be in competition , Pro-Am, Street
Stock, I Stocks making up the top class followed by the Hobby Stocks, and
Hornets.
The Tradition is a event of unique qualifying procedures and many twist and
turn. In the Pro-Am and Hobbies all drivers draw for their heat race starting
position with the top finishers moving to their respective “A” feature. All
others will try to qualify through consolation events. All heat race winners
will race a “Dash for Cash” to determine the starting order of the “A” feature.
The winner of the Dash for Cash then has to decide rather to take all the cash
and start 6th or split the money with all the competitors in the dash and start
from the pole position.
The Pro-Am Feature has changed from a 40 lap to a 30 lap event this year with
the 10 minute break coming after lap 15. Hobby Stocks will run a 24 lap feature
with their 10 minute break coming after lap 12. Each lap will pay lap money to
the driver leading each lap in each feature with a bonus for leading the half
way. Plus if the same driver can lead half way and win there is yet another
added bonus.
During the break a playing card is revealed that was drawn by the dash winner
but kept secret until now, on how many cars will invert for the restart.
Previous winners include defending Champion Steve Jackson, Des Moines, IA one of
the Winn ingest drivers in the IMCA Stock Car division. A.J. Miller, Jeremy
Miller, Cody Weaver, Scott Carlson, Stephen Jenkins, and Cornings own Jeremy
Houck. Hobby Stock winner have been Doug Siedle, Todd Jansonius, Andy Boeckman
(2) and Jim Tull.
Hornet cars will run two 6 lap races with each winner receiving trophies. After
the second race the low point car will be awarded the first place money and so
on. Points will be awarded corresponding to their finishing position.
The Tradition is promoted by the Adams Co. Fair & Racing Assc. and sponsored by
KMA/KKBZ, Stalker Chevrolet-Cadillac Creston, Miller Beer Southwest
Distributing, Budweiser Doll Distributing, Northland Products Co. And Houck
