It’s Jackson, Wyman and Hudson (x2) at Adams County Speedway

CORNING, IA (August 2) - The Chase for the Championship has begun for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at the Adams County Speedway. Trent Jackson and J.C. Wyman picked up the Whelen late model and Budweiser modified wins while Matt Hudson took both the Northland Oil pro street and NAPA hobby stock trophies.

In the Whelen late model feature Al Zeitner jumped to the early lead and held it over the next five laps. Trent Jackson then charged through the pack to take the top spot and he then distanced himself from the field. Chris Spieker worked up to second and started to chase down Jackson as they encountered lapped cars late in the race. Jackson was able to maintain his lead to score his first win on the season ahead of Spieker, Paul Glendenning, Al Zeitner and Leon Zeitner.

J.C. Wyman and Russell Stewart swapped the lead over the first few laps of the Budweiser modified feature with Wyman ending up leading the pack. Wyman then went on to run with a comfortable lead over Jesse Dennis over the remainder of the non-stop event. The checkered flag saw a top five of Wyman, Dennis, Alison Quick, Ryan Peckham and Jeremy Tibben, but claim refusals by Dennis and Peckham turned the top five into Wyman, Quick, Tibben, Dan Mueller and Stewart.

Matt Hudson made quick work of moving from fourth to the lead in the Northland Oil pro street feature. He was pressured early in the race by Craig Garner until a caution put the whole field on his heels. Greg Miller then took a turn trying to wrestle the lead away from Hudson but Hudson was up to the challenge as he scored his first career Northland Oil pro street feature ahead of Miller, Joe Zadina, Garner and Steve Churchill.

Kevin Yearington took the early lead on the NAPA hobby stock field as he left a pack to fight for second. Matt Hudson worked up through that pack to take second and set his sights on Yearington. With only five laps to go, Hudson was able to secure the lead and score his second win on the night and fourth NAPA hobby stock win of the season ahead of Yearington, Josh True, Trent Davison and Matt Williamson. Brad Derry’s third place run was disallowed because of an engine claim refusal.
