Ritterbusch, Quick, Ballinger and Hudson top ACS features

CORNING, IA (August 9) - The second night of the Chase for The Championship for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at the Adams County Speedway is in the books and the drama just keeps building. Three of four divisions have a different point leader after Saturday’s action. Karl Ritterbusch, Alison Quick, Ron Ballinger and Matt Hudson took the feature wins.

Ryan Vicker wasted no time opening up a big lead in the Whelen late model feature and he held that spot for the first half of the race. Leon Zeitner took over at the mid-point of the race with Karl Ritterbusch and Chris Spieker waging a heated battle for second. With a late caution bunching the field Ritterbusch shot by Zeitner to take the lead leaving Zeitner and Spieker to swap second place. Ritterbusch pulled away for his second win of the season ahead of Leon Zeitner, Spieker, Paul Glendenning and Al Zeitner. With that finish, Spieker now holds a one point lead on Glendenning.

Jeff Wiggins started third in the Budweiser modified feature and passed the front row starters to lead lap one. He ran comfortably in the front until a caution put the field on his bumper. Alison Quick had moved through the field from her 11th starting spot and shot past Wiggins on the restart to take the top spot. Wiggins got one more shot at the lead following a late caution, but Quick went on to her first win on the season, which also put her into the point lead. Quick and Wiggins were followed to the finish by Jared Stiens, Russell Stewart and Jeremy Tibben.

Glen Hoyt outran fellow front row starter Ron Ballinger at the drop of the green in the Northland Oil pro street feature and held that lead for a few laps until Ballinger worked back around to take the lead. Once Ballinger was in the front, he sped off to a comfortable advantage to score his second win of the season ahead of Steve Churchill, Mike Garner, Jeff Orr and Matt Hudson. Greg Miller’s heat race mechanical trouble forced him to borrow his son A.J.’s car for the feature and his 14th place finish allowed Jeff Orr to take the point lead.

The NAPA hobby stock feature saw Jeremy Ribbey lead the first half of the race until a restart allowed Matt Hudson to wiggle through to take the top spot. Jerod Weston then pressured Hudson to the finish but Hudson took his fifth win on the year to strengthen his point lead. Hudson and Weston were followed to the finish by Ribbey, Matt Williamson and Kevin Yearington. Williamson finished the night by topping Trent Davison, Jeremy Auten and Hudson to win the king of the hill presented by Diamond Oil/Sunoco and Ironman Racing Supply.

Join us next week for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series with more great action of the Whelen late models, Budweiser modifieds, Northland Oil pro streets, and NAPA hobby stocks.
