First Annual Sprint Invaders Spring Nationals Set For This Weekend! (Bill W) April 13, 2009 - The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders are preparing for the 1st Annual Sprint Invaders Spring Nationals at the 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. The two-day event will take place on Friday, April 17, and on Saturday, April 18, with the finale paying $2500 to win, and $350 to start. The anticipated event will coincide with the 1st Annual Brian Hetrick Memorial Race for the 305 sprints paying $1,250 to the winner! The event will serve as the season opener for the Sprint Invaders series, as an April 3 date at the Morgan County Speedway was a wash. This will mark the 19th and 20th appearance for the Sprint Invaders at 34 Raceway. Matt Rogerson holds the record for feature wins with the series at the banked 3/8 mile oval, with five. Three of those wins have come in season openers, so keep your eye on the Burlington native. Jerrod Hull (3) and 2008 Sprint Invaders champion, John Schulz (2), are the only other drivers who have one more than one feature with the Sprint Invaders at the facility. Rogerson, Schulz, Bobby Mincer, Mike Houseman Jr. and Brian Brown won main events at 34 Raceway in 2008. A full program will be run on Friday, including time trials, heats and features. The top four finishers in the 20-lap main event for the Sprint Invaders will lock themselves into Saturday’s dash and 30-lap finale! On Saturday, heats, the dash, B features and the main event are on tap! The popular 305 sprint class will be running a similar companion program, creating a great open wheel doubleheader! Hobby stocks join the Friday event, while IMCA Stock Cars and Mod Lites will support Saturday’s program. Pit gates open on Friday at 4:00, with Grandstands opening at 5:00. Hot laps commence at 6:00, with qualifying beginning at 6:30, and racing at 7:15. Adult tickets are $15, with pit passes priced at $25. This event is expected to draw some of the Midwest’s best sprint car drivers! For more information on the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders, visit www.SprintInvaders.com.
