Ultimate Challenge Sponsors Swindell at Iowa Speedway! (Bill W) June 18, 2009 – McTwo Promotions is proud to announce that the Searsboro Telephone Ultimate Challenge will sponsor Kevin Swindell’s efforts this Friday night at the Iowa Speedway! Swindell, who is the 2009 Knoxville Midget Nationals champion, will team with the Keith Kunz Motorsports #67 team in USAC National Midget action at the 7/8 mile facility in Newton, Iowa. The race will be held in conjunction with the Indy Racing League (IRL) Iowa Corn Indy 250 festivities! “Keith Kunz is good enough to put this (midget) deal out there,” says Kevin. “They really haven’t had a house car for awhile, and they wanted to do it. We really appreciate the help that Terry (McCarl) and the Ultimate Challenge are giving us. Hopefully, with the IRL in town, we can give a good showing.” “In 2007, we were able to race the sprint car and the midget there,” says Kevin of his previous experience at the Iowa Speedway. “We finished well in the sprint car (fourth), and we weren’t bad in the midget. We were spun around later on in the race, but came back pretty well (30th to 13th).” “We are proud to be involved with Kevin in his quest for the victory on Friday at Iowa Speedway,” says Terry McCarl of McTwo Promotions. “Kevin is an exciting young talent. He is the type of driver that would be great for the Indy Racing League and hopefully some of those folks will be watching. Being involved with Kevin, a great car owner like Keith Kunz and the Iowa Speedway is a huge deal for us. We hope we’ll get some new fans that enjoy the racing in Newton, to come down to Oskaloosa in August and see one of the great non-wing events in the country. Kevin certainly put on a show at Osky last year in trying to run down our winner Dave Darland!” The best drivers in the “traditional” non-wing sprint car world battle it out in a “One night stand for 15 grand!” on Tuesday, August 11. The event will be again be sanctioned by USAC, ensuring that the best drivers in non-wing sprint car racing will be on hand. Last year’s event was won by Dave Darland, and he was followed to the line by Kevin Swindell, Jerry Coons Jr., Cole Whitt and Hunter Schuerenberg. Darland paired with car owner Scott Benic, who has fielded three winning cars in the UC (also for Boston Reid and Levin Jones). They are expected back to defend their title. The action is always intense from the first green thrown to the last checkered flag at the Ultimate Challenge! “We’re excited about USAC being a part of this event,” says McCarl. “You can’t beat the winner’s paycheck, that’s for sure! Having Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne bring their race teams is huge for us. There should be an impressive field of cars here! You never know who is going to rise to the top in this thing. We have a different winner every year it seems.” Don’t miss the Searsboro Telephone Ultimate Challenge or the Musco Lighting Front Row Challenge on Monday, August 10…order your tickets by calling 515 957-0020 today!
