(Bill W) July 12, 2011 – The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders will make their annual appearance at one of their favorite stops on Thursday night, July 14. In conjunction with the Cedar County Fair in Tipton, Iowa, they will race for the fifth time in series’ history on the ¼ mile Cedar County Raceway. The Sprint Invaders have been plagued by Mother Nature, but got in the Lee County Fair race last Friday night in Donnellson, Iowa. Randy Martin was the victor over 29 cars on the 3/8-mile oval, recording his third career win with the series. There have been four different winners in the four visits to Tipton as well. In 2007, “Flyin” Ryan Jamison picked up the win, followed by “Lil’ Dude” Bobby Mincer in 2008, “The Gas Man” Jack Dover in 2009, and “Showtime” Kaley Gharst in 2010. The banked ¼ mile is always fun for both the drivers and the fans, and plenty of outsiders are expected to challenge the Sprint Invaders regulars on Thursday. After the wild night in Donnellson, there was a point shake-up, with Justin Parrish leading the current standings ahead of two-time champion, Bobby Mincer, Matt Sutton, Joe Beaver and Andy Huston. Hot laps get underway at 6:45 p.m. with racing to follow. The Cedar County Fairgrounds are on the west side of Tipton at 1195 220th Street. For more information, visit www.CedarCountyFair.net!
