FOUR NEW FACES IN VICTORY LANE WITH TWO REPEAT WINNERS AT
BLOOMFIELD

BLOOMFIELD, Ia. (April 21, 2006) - Racing action at the Mountain-Dew
Bloomfield Speedway was held with six exciting classes in action for night
number two. The Casey`s General Stores USRA Weekly Racing Series in action with
drivers accumlating local and national points. Four out of the six classes had a
new face in victory lane with two drivers picking up back-to-back feature wins.
Mike Robinson of Moravia took the win in the Hougland Repair Shop USRA Stock Car
Division with Jeff Waterman of Quincy, IL. taking his second straight and second
ever feature win in the USRA B-Modified Division.
The Hougland Repair Shop USRA Stock Car feature was a thriller as always with Chris Hawkins of Drakesville and Matt Greiner of Washington leading the field to the green. Hawkins and Greiner would battle for the lead with Greiner taking the lead and lead till lap twelve of the eighteen lap event before Robinson would close in for the topspot. Phil McClure of Floris would also mix it up making it three wide racing for the lead but Robinson powered out to the front taking the win. Greiner would take the second spot McClure in third and Zack VanderBeek of New Sharon in fourth.
In the Kollision Korner Hornet division Larry Hopkins topped the field taking his first win of 2006 after starting in the nineth starting spot and battled to the front. Hopkins took the lead on lap four and never looked back. Tom Irwin of Bloomfield took the race lead but settled for second after Hopkins took the lead. Dale Porter of Floris took third in the Kollision Korner sponsored 31 machine with female racer Kristina Garrett of Ottumwa taking fourth after starting twelveth showing.
The USRA B-Modifieds took the green with Tony Dunker of Quincy, IL taking the early race lead with Jeff Waterman of Quincy, Il. and Chris Leathers of Macon, MO battling for the second spot. Waterman would take second with his sights set on Dunker for the top spot. The two Quincy drivers would battle for the lead with Waterman taking the lead with four laps to go and took his second ever feature win and second straight at the Mountain-Dew Bloomfield Speedway. Dunker took second with Leathers in third and Jeff Eddy of Milan, MO taking fourth.
Our fourth feature of the night was the Kirkland Auto USRA hobby stocks in action for fifteen laps of action with Steve Allen of Oskaloosa taking the early race lead with Mark Moore in second and Rocky Fosdyck of Selma and Nathan Wood of Sigourney battling for the third spot. The three and four wide racing made for some exciting action. Fosdyck would make his move to the front on lap four and never look back holding of challenges by Allen and Ben Jones of Williamsburg who battled from the twelveth starting spot and took the race lead on lap ten but Fosdyck would take the lead back and Jones night would end with a cut right rear tire. Fosdyck took his first win of the season with Allen in second followed by Wood in third and Jimmy Hayes of Moravia in fourth.
The fifth feature of the night was the Spilman Auto Parts USRA A-Modifieds taking the fast 3/8 mile speedway with a stellar field of cars checked in for action. Veteran driver Jerry Pilcher of Bloomfield and Casey Lancaster of Glenwood, MO paced the field to the green with Pilcher taking the early race lead with Zack VanderBeek of New Sharon and Tony Fraise of Donnellson closing in making for three wide racing for the topspot with Jim Lynch of Bloomfield running fourth. All four drivers would put on a show with Mark Burgtorf of Quincy,IL starting fifeteenth and was working his way forward. Fraise would take the lead and would start working lap traffic with VanderBeek in tow. The two drivers would work lap traffic with VanderBeek taking the lead but Fraise would use the lap traffic to his advantage splitting two cars and taking the lead and never looked back. Fraise took the checkers with VanderBeek in second with Burgtorf and Lynch battling for third with Burgtorf taking third and Lynch in fourth.
The first appearance of the Mid-America 305 Winged Sprints took the green with Ottumwa driver Brian Ridge taking the early race lead and would pace the field till lap nine. Ridges machine would get crossed up spinning in turn two. Steve Breazeale of Trenton, MO would take the race lead and lead the final eleven laps for his first win of 2006. Louis Lynch of Glenwood, MO took home the second spot in the always colorful 71 sprinter with Russell, Iowa driver Kevin Tanner back in the sprinter after taking a nasty crash in 2005.
Tanner took the third spot with Marty Stephenson of Mitchelville in fourth. The racing action was red flagged on lap seven when Mike Mayberry of Fremont spinning in turn two with Logan Trueblood of Memphis, MO having no place to go and got upside down in turn two stopping the action. The Haine Auto Supply Hard Charger was fourteen year old driver Josh Padeliford of Pleasentville taking seventh after starting eleventh.
The Lancaster Oil Company Hard Luck award went to Matt Stephenson of Des
Moines who got upside down in hot laps ending his night. The First Choice
Reality of Ottumwa Mystery spot went to Brain Ridge who`s finished in the sixth
spot. The long distance award went to John Hillman of Jefferson City, MO. This
week the Mid-America 305 Winged Sprints will venture to the Sprint Car Capital
of the World the Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. The sprints will return
for there second appearance at the Mountain-Dew Bloomfield Speedway on Friday
night May 19th.
