PROBASCO, WOOD, COOK AND VANDERBEEK TAKE CHECKER ON GOLDEN
FURROW AND SLAYTON POLARIS NIGHT AT MOUNTAIN-DEW BLOOMFIELD SPEEDWAY

BLOOMFIELD, Ia (April 28, 2006) - Night number three was held with Golden Furrow
Fertilizer and Slayton Polaris night at the races. Several race fans and drivers
who thought it was going to rain thought wrong with the R L Promotions team
going to work and running a smooth quick show beating the rain and getting
everyone home before ten o'clock.
The first feature of the night was the Kollision Korner Hornet division with
David Probasco taking his second feature of 2006 season with Kevin Garrett of
Bloomfield taking the second spot with Dale Porter of Floris in third. The
battle for the fourth spot was between the husband and wife team of Jim and
Kristina Garrett of Ottumwa with Kristina taking the fourth position.
In the second feature of the evening the Hougland Repair Shop USRA stock cars
took the green with Tyler McClure of Floris and Matt Greiner of Washington
battling for the race lead. Greiner`s night would come to a end with mechanical
problems ending his run too the checkers. This setup a battle between Jason Cook
of Mt. Pleasant and Tyler McClure with the two drivers going wheel-to-wheel for
the final nine laps with the two drivers exchanging the lead seven different
times with Cook coming out on top. Younger brother Ryan Cook of West Point
closed in on the race lead but settled for a third place finish with Chris
Hawkins of Drakesville taking the fourth spot after starting eight position and
T.J. Bainbridge of Eldon battling his way from the tail after spinning and
fighting his way to a fifth place finish.
The third feature of the night was the always competitive Kirkland Auto USRA hobby stock division with a full field of twenty-four cars taking the green for fifteen laps. Rusty Sands of Unionville, Mo. took the early race lead with Jim Tull of Redding battling for the lead but Tulls night would end with a flat right rear tire going flat. Sands lead till lead five before Ottumwa driver Dustin Griffiths closed in for the race lead. On lap six Griffiths would make the pass coming off turn two but caution would fly giving the lead back to Sands. On the restart Sands lead the field into turn one with Sands, Griffiths and Ben Jones of Williamsburg all battling for the lead. On lap ten Griffiths machine would get crossed up in turns one and two with Sands making contact sending Sands machine spinning and Griffiths car receiving left front suspension damage. Sands night would come to a end on the hook with Griffiths restarting on the tail. On the restart Nathan Wood of Sigourney would set the pace Jones and Mark Moore of Ottumwa battling for the race lead but Wood held off several challenges and took the win. Moore and Jones battled for the second spot with Moore taking second with Jones in third and Steve Allen of Oskaloosa taking fourth after starting twelveth.
In the fourth and final feature of the evening the twenty lap Spilman Auto Parts USRA modified feature rolled onto the speedway with Michael Long of Quincy,Il. and Brad Pinkerton of New Sharon leading the field to the green flag. Long would take the race lead with Pinkerton in chase but Zack VanderBeek of New Sharon would close the gap for the topspot. This setup a good three car battle for the race lead betwen Long,Pinkerton and VanderBeek. VanderBeek took the lead from Long on lap ten with Long running a close second. VanderBeek held off the challenge from Long to take his first win at the Mountain-Dew Bloomfield Speedway after taking a runner-up spot last week. Long took the runner-up spot for the first ever apperance of the number 18 machine at the Bloomfield Speedway. Pinkerton took the third spot with another first time apperance by Ted Allen of Canton,Mo. taking the fourth position.
Next weeks racing action will feature the first ever apperance of the cars and stars of the O`Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series. With a large field of cars expected with current point leader Mark Noble of Blooming Prairie,Mn. and seven time defending tour champ Kelly Shryock of Fertilie, Iowa and Jon Tesch of Watertown SD. who come into friday nights action in second place in the point standing with Shryock in third and Ryan Ruter in fourth and local racer in action to defend there home turf against the tour regulars.
The card will also feature the USRA Hobby Stocks,USRA Stock Cars,USRA B-Mods and Hornet division. The excitment will kickoff with hot laps at 7:00pm and racing action at 7:30pm.
